Congratulations are in order...
Congratulations are in order...
... for a successful BBKL Entry Draft that has run smoothly, quickly (for the most part), and smartly.
We're at the stage in which many of you are now going for the home-run picks, so I just wanted to say that I enjoyed the BBKL draft experience as it was one of the most fun times I have had in a fantasy league. 30 teams, 210 prospects, and absolutely awesome discussions.
Great work, guys.

As a innocent bystander for this draft, I definitely intend on getting my feet wet in 2013, it has run super smooth so far and has been fun just watching.

It have been a great draft and has been alot of fun so far. A big thanks to all those who help run it.
Re: Congratulations are in order...
I'd also like to congratulate Erik Karlsson on his Norris Trophy win, seeing this is a congratulations thread. Yes leafs fans, you will grow to hate him more every year. Haters were wrong, he is the best dman in the NHL .
Re: Congratulations are in order...
well him winning it is quite surprising
Re: Congratulations are in order...
it was great until this thread ... way to go, Chris
Re: Congratulations are in order...
Winning the norris isn't the same thing as being the best dman in the game - i doubt many players would call him a superior defenseman to either of Chara or Weber. Winning the Norris means the media likes you; aka softer, high scoring, no dirty plays, etc.
Anyways, awesome draft indeed, let's keep the picks coming!!!

Re: Congratulations are in order...
still waiting for the Bobby Orr award ... the current Norris is a joke
Re: Congratulations are in order...
I understand how some could argue Weber was deserving for it, but when all things are said and done, I couldn't have seen it going any other way. Sure Green had similar numbers and didn't win, but he was also in years where other defensemen were scoring over 60 points, Nicklas Lidstrom was dominating, and he had an already lethal offense in front of him, where as Karlsson only had Spezza out scoring him, was in part of a complete Ottawa Senators turn around, and 25 points ahead of the next defender, +16, and has what I consider quite underrated defensive play, he has that calm in the eye of the storm a very good stick and his skating saved a lot of close plays. Was a better "player" than his competitors imo, not saying it wasn't close.kyuss wroteCOLONwell him winning it is quite surprising

Exactly... Green, Karlsson, Campbell, etc should be noted for their skills from the blue line position, but being the best defensemen begins with great D; like the selke actually begins w/ shut down skill, and separates with scoring (or vice versa? never sure...another award I think is poorly done...wait, i think they all are by definition flawed, because of those voting on them.)
Putting too much weight in any award is silly, although I'm sure the pay check they come with is much appreciated. No one is doubting Karlsson had an epic season though.
