He is what he is..a #5/6/7 defenceman who has very good puck moving abilities and could get some time on the 2nd PPunit - somebody we need with Kaberle gone.

i don't think by any means Lebda is a super star or top 20 UFA signing; however, i do think he was a good depth signing (which i've stated). I think he'll do a lot for his price and what he can bring.

Dmen are like goalies, they take longer to find their touch. I think he'll get a solid 14-16mins per game, and Wilson will get a lot out of him. This signing will pay dividents.

That's ambitious...doesn't mean it'll happen though. I was fairly indifferent to him while he was with Detroit...I'm not hammering on him because he left, it's just that I don't see how a perceived smart GM like Brian Burke looks at him as a remedy to what ills a cup-hungry fanbase. He was a part of the recent run of three consecutive trips to the conference finals (or better) but was a #6/7 defenseman on those teams. He might bring some intangibles for being teammates with the likes of Chelios, Lidstrom and Rafalski and he's an overall good guy too. Other than that, if he was exceptional player, the Wings would've kept him. I wish him luck in Toronto.

Leino wasn't a Babcock player...which doesn't mean he was a bad player. There's a lot of second guessing from the Wings fans about that move but you just didn't see that type of explosiveness when he was with the Wings that he showed in Philadelphia. I think he's playing in a system with less constraints and he's able to flourish offensively. If Leino got to play on lines with Datsyuk or Zetterberg instead of playing on the 3rd or 4th line...who knows?

Lebda to a lesser extent could be a similar case. He's not a particularly strong defenseman at both ends of the ice. The guy lacks size and toughness and was prone to mistakes like you mentioned. He feels most comfortable in the opposition zone as an offensive player. I think he can be a solid PP specialist with his ability to carry the puck and he's got a pretty underrated shot. Don't expect him to be a defensive stopper though.

IMO the 4th pick of the 1993 Entry Draft will still sign for 2.5+, unless there is a location he wants to play and approaches them @ a discount.. he's always been better then the 12th overall pick form the 1996 entry draft (IMO).

I've never really played the betting game.

But i will predict this. Kessel will score more goals this year, than Seguin has points.

Kessel's stats: 40G - 25A - 65P

Seguin's stats: 15G - 18A - 33P


Know i understand that there is an age difference there, that being said i don't think Seguin is going to live up to all the hype and be a 'franchise player' like may predict. I see him as a 2nd line Centre that will max out around 70-75 points per season. I label him a 'bust' because i think he is an over-hyped prospect.

If Seguin is as good as we all think in all areas of the game and scores 70-75 points consistently it'll be stupid to call that a bust or not living up to the hype imo.
