2011-12 Stats

Post by Shoalzie »

I assume a lot of you got the message from the CBS message board last month that I put a stats spreadsheet together. A lot of you liked when I did it last year and I did it again put a little more detailed. I took all of the basic stats we use along with some of the other bonus situational stats CBS had available and I threw those in as well. If you have any question on some of the stat categories and need some clarification, just ask.

My next big project is making a spreadsheet of all the contracts and player data (most notably age and GP for waiver purposes). If it would help out the league, I'll make a list of waiver exempt players or would might actually be easier is to put together a list of all NHL veterans on a BBKL roster that isn't waiver exempt any longer. Then by process of elimination, we can figure out who actually is waiver exempt. I want to get that done in the next month or so and I'll post that as well.

thanks buddy, this was very useful last off-season when CBS was down/updating and I wanted to make trades for players I was unsure about their stats.

Thought I'd bump this, since people are talking about empty CBS stats.

Am I the only person who usually goes to yahoo or nhl.com for stats?

What Shoalzie has put together here is very nice, so thanks again for doing this!

NHL.com has the most complete stats but there is no easy way to capture them short of copy and paste, which I used to do. I do like CBS allowing you to save everything as a spreadsheet and you can manipulate them however you want after that. I just wish they had all the stats NHL.com has.

Thanks buddy, and with the cap hit project, I'd love to help out!

One request: Can you please also upload a .xls version of the same file? My work computer is old and still runs 2003 office

I've got something new I whipped up. Through collecting all the birth dates and career games played for every player that played in a regular season or postseason game, I have a spreadsheet of all players' waiver status.

One tab has all players and you can sort through them. It lists age, GP and their differential waiver qualifications.

One tab has just the "must clear" players. They either show if they're older than 28 or if they're over on age and GP based on if they are a F/D or goalie.

One tab has just the "exempt" players. It shows their current status of if they're over on age or GP.

Note: all ages are based on the player's age on opening night (October 11, 2012)

If you're familiar with the waiver rules, this'll all make sense. I hope this can used as a useful resource for the league to help out with the in-season waiver process and with roster submission.

With CBS not having their stats from this year, their comparison tool is basically useless. I've added a simple comparison tool to the stats spreadsheets...I just uploaded a new version.

Go to the "Compare" tab and all you have to do is plug in the last name in column A and the first name in column B. This only involves forward or defenseman stats. There are two sets of 5 fields and the bottom row of each set shows the total for the group listed so you can compare two sides of a trade.

Let me know if there are any errors or if there are any additions you'd like to see, I'll see what I can do.
