I reserve judgment until I see the numbers released but..MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONThis is a devastating development, I'm not sure were gonna see any hockey this season boys.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
From what I've heard on Twitter, etc... these offers aren't that far off... but let's reserve judgement until/if the NHLPA's counters are fully released.
This is a business, despite our love for the product, it's still a business. We're the kids caught between two fighting parents. And Jeremy Jacobs (fucking hate that douche).

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
They are miles apart Thom... The Owners want to get to 50/50 immediately, and the players refuse to reduce their share unless the owners honour all of their existing contracts. To make matters worse, neither side is showing any willingness to move off of their position.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
my favourite part is the mysterious 3rd offer, legendary "50/50 immediately while honoring existing contracts" proposal that the players are trying to push right now. desperate attempt to get the fans back on their side, however, I don't think they bargained on the fans realizing that such a deal is NOT MATHEMATICALLY POSSIBLE.
every one of biz's tweets in the last hour has started with "for all the confused fans...."
no one is fucking confused, we can just see through your bullshit.

who cares about the NHL now its all about Connor McDavid
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
so Fehr made a proposal to the league without even "running the numbers"....great hahaha. if you're a player that has got to make you lose at least a sliver of faith in fehr, i mean...c'mon...
"It's not a 50-50 deal. It is, most likely, a 56 to 57% deal in Yr. 1 and never gets to 50% during the proposed 5-yr term of the agreement. The proposal contemplates paying the players approximately $650 million outside the players' share. In effect, the Union is proposing...to change the accounting rules to be able to say 50-50, when really it is not. ...The Union told us that they had not yet 'run the numbers.' We did."
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Players are a joke. Every time i see them tweeting the bullshit they continuously post i want to scream.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Longstory short.
NHL: We want a 50/50 split, and we are willing to honor all existing contracts but your gonna be paying heavy into escrow but you'll get it back at a later date.
NHLPA: We are willing to accept a 50/50 split but we want all of our money that you promiced now, AKA we really want 56% but you can call it 50/50 if you want.
I expect sides wont meet again til monday at the earliest, but after both sides cool down and stop breathing fire, there is a deal to be made here somewhere.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Sounds like many are speculating if they don't get a deal done for a Nov. 2nd start, there will be a blackhole of 3-4 without any talks.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
They are optimistic about the NOW situation. It's if it isn't done by then, there will be no pressure to get a deal done for an 82 game schedule and TSN said they aren't going to have a 76 game schedule, for example. They'll likely not speak for a while and try and hammer something out for a 60 game schedule. If nothing, then another deadline of 41 game schedule. Then shut it down.bills09 wroteCOLONand yet Lebrun and Freidman remain optimistic.Shep wroteCOLONSounds like many are speculating if they don't get a deal done for a Nov. 2nd start, there will be a blackhole of 3-4 without any talks.
So likely 3 soft deadlines, and hopefully they use this one and we get a full season. But we will see.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
The "Make Whole" Provision the League offered is more complex than that, in essence the players would be paying the difference out of their own pockets.bills09 wroteCOLONLongstory short.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Prognosticators have been speculating that the two sides would go through a cold process since the lockout was made official on September 15th. There isn't much substance to it, IMO. The two sides have kept in constant contact throughout the process, even when negotiations went stagnant. This isn't at all like the 2004 labour dispute where the two sides didn't even pick up a phone for 90 days.Shep wroteCOLONThey are optimistic about the NOW situation. Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
No it's a delay in pay, not as mirtle suggests a decrease in share.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
after hearing nhlpa's associations proposals, the situation doesn't seem as bad as Bettman's and Fehr' words made it out to be.
When you take away all the PR BS both sides are putting up, the net reality is we are much closer to a deal now than we thought on Monday.
The NHL knows their current make whole provision is pathetic (players re-paying players? ); still they offered one, and it's a negotiable one.
The NHLPA knows the delinked proposals they are making are unacceptable, and will take that away under better circumstances.
So it doesn't look like we'll have a 82 schedule, but it seems unlikely we'll lose the season.
If you try to compare the distance between the 2 sides now and in 2004, the difference is appaling.
Still it's Fehr, and the worrisome part is, he has done nothing but delay negotiations so far.
The only explanation for that i can think of is he thinks owners are NOT (and will not be) ready to lose a season this time around. If he is right he will get a better deal, probably before Winter Classic cancelation; if he is wrong he will fail like he never did in his career..
odds shouldn't be too bad right?

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
It's not like the players have much time to spend all that money anyhow...
