Blue Jays Trade, pretty epic eh...?
The Toronto Blue Jays may have gotten the pitching help they've been looking for.
According to reports, the Jays have acquired starting pitchers Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson, as well as shortstop Jose Reyes and catcher John Buck, from the Miami Marlins.
In exchange, the Marlins receive pitcher Henderson Alvarez and shortstops Yunel Escobar and Adeiny Hechavarria.
Left-handed pitching prospect Justin Nicolino will also be sent to the Marlins in the deal.
FOX reporters Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal first reported the trade.
More to follow.

Left-handed pitching prospect Justin Nicolino will also be sent to the Marlins in the deal. The Blue Jays are also believed to have sent an outfield prospect to the Marlins.

Maybe its just me, but seems like the Jays are hosing the Marlins big time in this. Assuming they can get Johnson signed on after this year is done that is. But landing Buck, a serviceable catcher to go with JP, Buerhle who is a great work-horse guy and good presence for the young arms, and Reyes is definitely a statement type deal on its own.

Re: Blue Jays Trade, pretty epic eh...?
some rumours floating around that the jays want Shawn Marcum back as well.
We'd actually have a solid rotation
Johnson
Buerhle
Marcum
Morrow
Romero
Last years ace would be this years 5th starter in our rotation.

Baseball isn't hockey, a guy can be effective into their mid to late 30s

He's always pitched like he was a pitcher in his late-30s...soft throwing lefty that pitches to contact and fields his position well. He's still solid as a middle of the rotation guy.
The Jays need to be aggressive because the Yankees are going to be a bit different, the Red Sox are rebuilding/retooling, the Orioles can't possibly win again with their patchwork roster and the Rays are always hanging out there with their pitching but they might be looking to move Shields. The AL East is going to be mega-competitive.

Antons right, he's the best player in the deal and locked up for 6 more years!
Screw hockey, I can't wait for ball to start!
Should we start a baseball league and each gm pick a team?

We each get a team, and we can trade NHLers for MLBers.Fair Deals Steve wroteCOLONAntons right, he's the best player in the deal and locked up for 6 more years!

Re: Blue Jays Trade, pretty epic eh...?
I think aside David Price, the Rays are still very much locked up in terms of pitching staff. Shields can go, as I LOVE Cobb and Moore... these guys are a pair that I wished the Blue Jays had, and trading Shields for a more proven position player (catcher/middle infielder) would be a safe bet for the Rays. But I don't want em to make the right trade they're our RIVALShoalzie wroteCOLONArian wroteCOLONdon't like buerhle's contract at his age
