Bout time. Football coming to an end, welcome back hockey.
What does this mean, salary cap for year one is 60 mil but teams can spend up to 70.3???

Re: Season's Back
Yeah, $70.something for the cap this year...$64.something for next year. I think the cap goes down from there.
Are we going to allow buyouts?
Also, open lottery on the draft...all non-playoff teams are in the mix for #1 but it is weighted.
EDIT:

EDIT:
- The league coming off their demand for a $60 million cap in Year 2, meeting the NHLPA's request to have it at $64.3 million - which was the upper limit from last year's cap. The salary floor in Year 2 will be $44 million.
- The upper limit on the salary cap in the first year is $60 million, but teams can spend up to $70.2 million (all pro-rated). The cap floor will be $44 million.

Re: Season's Back
Quick math...looks like I'm above the new floor!
Next year could be ugly with compliance buyouts with Komisarek and Ballard but there's an entire offseason to sort that out.

Re: Season's Back
Open lottery still? Huh?
I'm honestly just excited for the fantasy aspect of hockey. Truth be told I kind of wanted the players to lose an entire year...

Re: Season's Back
The Lottery is going to have the same odds as before, but there is no longer a 4 spot move limit. You go to the 1st pick overall.

Right...it's like the NBA. Every non-playoff team gets a shot at #1 but still the worst teams have the best odds. This way is more of a legit lottery because the 9th team in the East or West could steal that top spot if they're drawn. No more guarantees for the top few spots.
Re: Season's Back
Why are we still having a lottery if there is a season? Shouldn't it be a standard draft? Or is the Nhl doing this as well?

It will depend when they get the CBA officially written and signed out. Everything is agreed to but the document has to be put together and signed. That along with how long training camp ends up being will factor in to which date the season starts on.
