Re: Season's Back
I'd assume it's salary and cap space, but yeah - need to wait and see.Shoalzie wroteCOLONThat's trading actual salary...how do you even do that with us? We need the full details on that...

it's not like we need to do that anyway..Shoalzie wroteCOLONThat's trading actual salary...how do you even do that with us? We need the full details on that...
and was always supposed to be cap space, that's the reason such clause would be added.
Re: Season's Back
Couldnt we just add placeholders for the value being moved and that value would be added or subtracted from teams total cap?
Re: Season's Back
That was suggested before when discussing the possibility.mr. bruin wroteCOLONCouldnt we just add placeholders for the value being moved and that value would be added or subtracted from teams total cap?
Re: Season's Back
I believe it's actually salary dollars and nothing towards the cap.
We'll see once there is more clarification.

That's a possibility...the cap figure is the big factor in our league so trading actually annual salary is of no value to us. The salary part is the actual amount these teams have to actually pay these guys. With the grandfathered backdiving deals, more of those contracts probably have less money on the back end compared what will be on new deals with the new variance. I wonder what kind of contracts will be involved in deals like this...I'm sure it probably has more to do with the teams rather than the actual contracts.
Re: Season's Back
If it's salary in trades it has no impact on us. However if it's cap hit (which I incorrectly assumed yesterday), it's a big deal and we will need very precise standards to keep it all straight.
Re: Season's Back
there you go, unbelievers
https://twitter.com/mirtle/status/288374375911129088Teams will be able to retain salary/cap hit in a trade. This will be a very complex and carefully worded portion of new CBA I'm sure.
Re: Season's Back
we need to make sure we implement in a conservative manner.
GMs in the deal must be VERY clear on what is happening, and we need to be very clear on what is allowed.

allowing none of that would be the clearest and most effective mannerNick wroteCOLONwe need to make sure we implement in a conservative manner.

Not the best option, just because something is difficult does not mean that it is not worth doing.
We are a league based on following the NHL, and IMO we should in this case as well.

it's not just because it's difficult... rather because difficult and pointless, i.e. i don't see the worth advantages to our game in adding such option.Nick wroteCOLONNot the best option, just because something is difficult does not mean that it is not worth doing.

So, at first glance, it would need to be easy as for implementation and management for me to be in favour, something that seems unlikely.
Re: Season's Back
wow, that is a lotUnder the new CBA, teams can retain salary/cap hit in a trade. Conditions to follow. #NHL
Quote:
Teams can retain salary/cap hit for up to three SPCs, to a maximum aggregate cap hit of 15 per cent of upper limit. #NHL
Quote:
Up to 50% of SPC can be retained in trade. An SPC can be traded twice with salary/cap hit retained. #NHL
Quote:
That’s about $9.6M in cap money teams can retain in trades, under a $64.3M upper limit. #NHL
twice what was previously mentioned.
