As it was mentioned by some...based on the timing of this deal, the one year on this contract would put it around the trade deadline next year. I don't recall the exact date of the usual trade deadline.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
It's the Olympics too, so that'll make the Trade Deadline up in the air in terms of a date.Shoalzie wroteCOLONNick wroteCOLONI don't think that they can, for a year ?

Even GM's dont see this kinda thing coming whne they've been blinded by success eh. Interesting.

Says a lot about the way the Flames look into making decisions with their roster.bcool wroteCOLONWow this wouldve been a nightmare scenario for Calgary. Flames are lucky they matched...

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
The Calgary Flames have inept management? Colour me shocked.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I honestly would have enjoyed that happening to the flames. That owner needs to allow a sell and learn a lesson in bringing in a proper management team. Calgary is an embarrassment lol.

CapGeek @capgeek
Lots of entry-level contracts likely to be signed in coming weeks. Today marks first day "next year" deals (starting 2013-14) can be inked.

Cgy should be ashamed of themselves. Someone should also be fired over this.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Like Stolarz.Per @AnthonySan37 --- Flyers have signed Anthony Stolarz to an entry-level contract. Got that draft pick from CBJ in Bobrovsky trade.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
As bad as Calgary is, I can't see this being true. One sportsnet reporter is running with this? He is a 22yr old RFA. Doesnt this rule apply to UFA's only? I cant see an entire organization making such a mistake.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Well apparently it is true, but still a grey area in the new CBA. Lawyers would have been involved as per Eliiot friedman and Kypreos on twitter...
