Good read, gives some insight to Nonis and his plans....guys those Bernier, Weiss and Clarkson rumours have some weight to them...also sounds like he's talking to the Oilers about taking on Hemsky and Horcoff
Komisarek is probably getting bought out but I think we all figured that would happen. I'll be happier when some of these buyouts find playing gigs. I have to imagine he gets a role as a 3rd pair/PK guy.
but gawd, i cant wait to see him mess up the sisters...they'll just give up on him...i can't for the life of me see how hiring a personality like Tortz is going to go over well in that lockerroom...
but whatever, it will make for some good sporting news!
Is there another established coach that fits the bill? I would've pictured Dallas as a spot for a rookie coach...Edmonton made sense because of Eakins experience with young players. The window is closing in Vancouver...you can imagine getting one or two good years left with this group before you have to tear it down. I think Torts might be good for a short term fix and then they go with one of hot assistants when they're retooling (post-Sedins).

If St. Louis didn't get to him first...I would've though Hitch made sense for them although he's kinda Wilson like where he can turn you around but other than his cup in Dallas, he's a guy that falls short in the end. I can't figure out if Vigneault is an offensive or defensive minded coach...Torts is very defensive minded. I don't know if they're going to a philosophy/attitude adjustment with this hire or are they just taking the best coach available?
Like his time with the Rangers...he'll do well at the beginning but then burn out after a few seasons. I don't know how Kesler will survive playing for him considering he couldn't stay healthy under Vigneault. Kesler is a Torts kinda guy if I've ever seen one. Also, curious to see how this affects the goaltending situation.
Jonathan Bernier has been traded to Toronto for Matt Frattin, Ben Scrivens, and a second round pick in 2014 or 2015 (Toronto's option)
