Proposal: 2013-14 BBKL Schedule

Post by Nick »

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... aTVE#gid=1

Ignore Week heading (that was shuffled after formula applied to get the design right).

The schedule has 'important' weeks spread out, heavy conference games in the middle of the season (5-7, 12-16), divisional games week 2,4,8,10, 11, 20 & 21.

Feedback is welcome, check for flaws (make sure you play your opponent, and that he plays you), no double listings in a single week, etc.

Tab 2: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... aTVE#gid=3

shows the design system.

7 divisional weeks
8 conference weeks (+ 1 repeat for western conference, eastern conference is busy this week LOL )
6 out of conference weeks (mathematically cannot come out).

Not back to back... but yes, as you can see from colour coding it is necessary for1 team, per eastern division to face off against a repeat eastern division team due to un-even divisions when the rest of their division is facing the (1 team smaller) western division (out of conference games).

Just randomly happened in week placements that you face Lee twice in three-weeks. Not exactly something to complain about ;)

It is possible to move that week farther away if desired, seems like that sorta thing will happen randomly no matter how the weeks are arranged (this is just how it unfolded, would be to design it to happen to someone else as a consequence of moving this). IMO.

IE: currently FLA plays NYI twice, they happen to be far apart, but moving a Week of PHI/OTT, say week 3) means other matchup sequences change as well. Doesn't seem like an issue to me, but others can let me know if I am mistaken.

only flaw I see is that my division plays zero opponents out of the Metro division. Would rather see total random selections from the east then just one division. Would make it more fun if it were 3 and 3 or just random. I won't complain if I am the only one that feels this way.

It is possible to double, double cross. I decided to have each division play as similar opponents as possible because of the playoff race. Meaning:

everyone in the pacific division, has a very similar schedule to everyone else in the pacific division.

everyone in the Atlantic division, has a very similar schedule to everyone else in the Atlantic division.

everyone in the Metro division, has a very similar schedule to everyone else in the Metro division.

everyone in the Central division, has a very similar schedule to everyone else in the Central division.

The differences from Central to Pacificis facing Metro instead of Atlantic (and vice versa). Less difference than facing TOR, BOS, TBL & PIT, NJD, CBJ comapred to DET, FLA, BUF & CAR, NYI, PHI - if i've expressed that at all.

Nice work Nick. I'm sure changes will be made as you go along but you do a terrific job on this year after year so I just trust you with it lol.

Had some trouble deciding what to do with 6 weeks this year. not enough to play your own division again, and that would leave no out of conference games. So went with as close to playing another entire division as the numbers allow for. Once it was actually laid out I thought it made a ton of sense.

I'm confident the schedule was designed evenly across each division, being in each division brings it's own uniqueness, IMO it's going to be a dogfight out of the Atlantic: TOR, BOS, TBL, OTT, MTL FLA, BUF, DET... likely only 4 spots, unless a 5th steals a spot from 1 of: PIT, NJD, WSH, CBJ, NYR, NYI, PHI, CAR. Which doesn't seem entirely improbable, nor likely.

That means different things province to province and country to country... context is everything. However, from a southerner it likely fits in all regards

aren't liberals in the US the Democrats? If that was the case it would likely fit on zero regards lol.
