I wouldn't want to be in the Olympics if I had to travel to shit-hole Russia either.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
if youtube has taught me anything it's that russia is full of gloomy weather, fighting drunks, and car accidents. seems like a terrible place.
i also had a russian roommate in my first year of college who was the stinkiest person ive ever met. he would wear the same white t-shirt everyday and would smoke like a chimney. he would only wash it after it had turned the most disgusting shade of yellow.

and to think, I almost took a one semester teaching position there haha.
I'd still love the check the country out. I bet the culture shock would be crazy there.

Maybe Giroux is a protester against anti-gay Russia.
Some believe this is a tactic by Russia.

Giroux stated recently that he has no desire to go to Sochi and wants to focus on the upcoming NHL season with his Flyers.

Cultural values they've had more or less before the Olympics? That's a real long game play. Also Giroux will end up on the team and going barring injury.Nick wroteCOLONMaybe Giroux is a protester against anti-gay Russia.

Fuck them in 2014 when we eventually get the Olympics this will pay off!

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
The on-paper portion/world-news relevance is a very big play. There WILL be world-class atheletes who avoid them games in protest, and that is only the case because of the media coverage the story is recieving. I would bet there are countries (atheletes) who try to compete under the LGTB flag.inferno31 wroteCOLON Cultural values they've had more or less before the Olympics? That's a real long game play. Countries go to great lengths to win in the olympics, the last big soviet medal win was the 1980 Olympics...

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
good signing
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Great contract for Henrique.
If this is true the guy will lose a lot of fans come Olympic time. I know its Russia and not somewhere nice like Greece or Spain but how someone wouldn't want to represent their country at the biggest sporting competition in the world, I don't know.Blues GM wroteCOLONGiroux stated recently that he has no desire to go to Sochi and wants to focus on the upcoming NHL season with his Flyers.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I would be pleased if we signed Kadri to a similar contract to Henrique
