from what I have seen of him in the W, he isn't nhl ready. It is easier to learn an aspect of a game, in his case improving his defensive play, when you are playing against weaker competition. I think he would be better served with one more year in the W then coming up to early and having the media pick at him all year long.

Agreed. And it's what likely happens anyways. 1 year in the W. 1 year possibly in the A. And then the Leafs.
