Van vs Fla is a big week for both teams. Not sure Kareem's team is ready for this season, yet.


Sjs vs Mtl two very very good teams, tough call

Phx vs BUF - newbie GMs first game at the helm, neither stared with much in terms of an active roster but Ennzie has had more time to work.

LAK vs Bos is a potential cup final for us! Easily the game of the week. I think Steve's old men start the season strong, whereas Steve's young boys get an early welcome to the nhl.

Edm vs TOR mike likely jumps to first in the league with a complete showing

Ana vs OTT - two teams who will both need their early season points to be in a playoff spot to end the year.

Wpg vs CBj - switched divisions but start the year as opponents.

DET vs NJD

WSH vs CHi - another cup final potential

Pit vs col - might be tighter than shiv would like

Phi vs dal

Nyr vs min hong to be given some credit as a contender in the west you need a Strong first showing.

NYI vs nsh skill vs grit, goalies could determine this week

I thought that was odd too. maybe it's because you have enough assets to become a contender? not sure

I'd also swap WSH and LAK into a week one win.

CBS says I am playing NYR. I am guessing the schedule hasn't been imput on CBS.

I think its going o be closer than nick thinks. Ull likely win but its gonna be a battle I think. Gl man

Is this week only Tuesday through Sunday? Definitely plays a role in the battles in net. Some teams only play once.


Top 3 Matchups:
1. LA vs. BOS -- Great way to start a season with two heavyweights. Might be the time to play Steve as he's dealing with a few injuries but if he can win the goalie battle, he might be able to sneak out with the win. The Flyers with 3 games this week. Since I'm confident in his goaltending, I see Kyle winning a 8-6-2 tilt.

2. SJ vs. MON -- A matchup of two darkhorses...the Sharks may be the most improved club along with Chicago. With Steve's tough matchup, good opportunity to get the jump on him and maybe have the early Pacific Division lead. If you're Chuck, you don't want to want to drop too many games against these top teams given the strength of the new Atlantic. I'll say Sharks win 9-6-1.

3. CHI vs. WAS -- Intrigued to see how the young Blackhawks perform in the early going. Good test for Anton out of the gate. Thom has the more established stars and where he'd probably win this is with the more stable situation at center and he's got the established skill on the wing. I probably shy away from picking Anton until I see his team in action for a week or two. Thom takes it 9-5-2.

Upset of the Week:
COL over PIT -- Fairly close matchup so not an upset in the traditional sense but I'd think most would see Shiv as the favorite in this one. The big key for Aidan is only one game for the Rangers so his goaltending needs to have a good outing. For Shiv, can't have his goalies get worked over in the banner-raising game like the Blackhawks did to the Kings last year. Shiv probably wins the periphs but I like Aidan's offense. I can see an 8-7-1 narrow win for Colorado.

Upset of the Week:
COL over PIT -- Fairly close matchup so not an upset in the traditional sense but I'd think most would see Shiv as the favorite in this one.
