What's the 'repair' time ?The Lightning confirmed that Steven Stamkos suffered a broken right tibia in Monday's loss to the Bruins, and he will be out indefinitely.

We try to mimic the NHL's framework for their schedule with emphasis on divisional and conference matchups.dave1959 wroteCOLONhow do we not play a different team 29 weeks in a row!!??

Re: BBKL Week 7
we don't have 29 weeks. structuring a schedule to make some sense is often weird. Gone over a ton of times as to the targeted layout and where the difficulties come in. But hey, why not do it again Will skip over some of it,
East
15 weeks vs teams of the same conference (1 game per), Which leaves 6 weeks to plan for those 16 teams.
West
13 weeks vs teams of the same conference (1 game per),Which leave 8 weeks to plan for those 14 teams.
therefor it is possible to have 6 weeks of out of conference games, each week with 2 eastern teams being left out (and facing each other). Also means 2 (more) weeks of in conference games for the 14 western teams.
but hint at the difficulties: For the 16 team conference we do not have enough weeks to play your own div twice + the other in conference div, let alone 2 weeks against out of conference.
In the west, playing a second in-conference (but out of division) opponent is a side-effect from the east getting any out-of-conference games.
I could have made the 5th week another week of divisional games for the west - except for 1 team per division - no feedback was given but have it as a planning note.
However in all reality - the playoff race is against the conference, not the division. Another season without out-of-conference games seems like we're missing some fun to me. At least this way we have 6(5) out of conference weeks. And I understand the urge to have any repeat games against your own division, it would just require a loss in out of conference games (which is the design). Back to back seasons w/o playing anyone from the alternate conference just seems lacking to me
Not fully sure what happened to our schedule this year as I had it as an open Google Doc and stuff was changing (likely by accident) - and then CBS twice emptied the schedule - If not mathematically obvious, each western team will play at least 1 conference opponent (but out of div) twice. alphabetically sorted by division = random how it occurred.
Some GMs were concerned with early sequencing and I made changes and asked for comments, it seems to just be a shifting of who had the repeats close together (groups of 3-4 GMs effected together). Because of PMs/complaints etc the weeks were shuffled up, now the schedule has 'important' weeks spread out, heavy conference games in the middle of the season,

How would that be possible? There are only 21 Weeks in the Regular Season for BBKLdave1959 wroteCOLONwhat I meant was.......each team should be able to play each team once........at least

Re: BBKL Week 7
We did discuss 21 unique opponents. however it's difficult to structure and very hard to make schedules comparable, there wouldn't be divisional weeks it would be a rat's nest - and it doesn't represent the playoffs picture. There were proponents for ZERO out of conference games for that reason, this has a mix.
