Which is why I think 1 W is 10x better than 11 wins in this case.

This is a stupid idea. I am definitely 100% totally against a WLT system.

That makes no sense. Magnitude matters. <-- Alliteration to emphasize my point.

i dont really think a W-L-T system would make much of a difference.

The only thing it may do is seperate the stronger teams from the weaker teams even more. Like would Dallas even have a win yet? At least with our system he is rewarded for winning some cats.

The point is that, and statistics nerds will understand me here, W-L-T system does not have enough "events" and has more variance. E.g. MTL is 8-2-0 and Mike/Nick are 8-1-1. One bad week by mike and nick and Chuck could win the division.

You need more "events" to avoid that variance.

Haha

Don't start an argument if you don't want to hear the rationale behind why!

It's a terrible argument and the current system is horrible and ruins the league.

rewarded? how? lol

What I showed when I ran the last two years was the EXACT OPPOSITE of what you just said. This system magnifies the differences of wins, good teams not only win more weeks, they win them by MORE categories. we basically remove the value or wins/losses and only measure how many categories you win. Until playoffs of course, when wins are all that matter. it's statistically not a valid comparison, it creates false gaps and IMO is not good for the league, but some love the idea/value of 'i lost but i got 2 points" but fail to see that they lost 30.

That 15 win week is than compared against someone they didn't even face, who also won their week, but for whatever reason it was with 10 wins, so they too lost 10 points on that other opponent.

Shozalie beating shiv made zero difference to either of them. that sucks. He didn't steal 1 or 2 or 4 categories, he beat shiv on the week. that should be worth something and it's not.

a w-l-t system would be great for the league, and was how the league was originally setup (StarPainter, Mike, I think CAM , he who mus not be named, and I were in the original discussion iirc). CBS is the only reason we have this system, but w.e. this is a discussion to have in the off-season.

How is that not worth anything?

it's worth the cat's he won, and the justification he gets from beating a contending team.

To me it makes little difference which style we go with, if i had to pick i'd keep the current system, but a WLT system woudln't be much difference IMO, he would just seperate the weaker teams even more.

+1.

Nick, it's worth nothing because my team is that good and Shoalzie's team is that bad that an anomaly like that is overcome over a 21 week season. It wouldn't be like that when you look at the playoff race in the East. 8th to 11th separated by 4 points. a week of 11-4-1, would be huge if those teams played each other.

Also, I think Nick just wanted to bring up I lost to DET again. After a week where he lost to FLA, not so smart.

Nick wroteCOLON Mik beat Ennzie by 1PIM, 1 win or 4bs (or 1 gwg).
hey, i actually lost PIMs by 1!

and the late bump is justified by the dreaded WTL system argument that i found hidden in this thread, which i can't avoid to reply to.
Nick wroteCOLON a w-l-t system would be great for the league,
a pure WLT system would be TERRIBLE! (maybe i should copy and paste from the CC thread)

Rewarding both stats-Wins AND matchup-Wins would be good instead.
