Most says this team is weak but even without the fancy names on paper this team does look strong and competitve for a medal.

Re: Olympic Rosters
I thought the date was January 6 for rosters...Team USA was announced today because of the Classic. They did the same thing at Fenway Park 4 years ago.
Re: Olympic Rosters
No Bobby Ryan or Erik Johnson ... oooookay.
Re: Olympic Rosters
Read the Burnside article, they are open about not taking the best players available, but trying to form the best team they can (not agreeing with the selections/omissions).

Re: Olympic Rosters
Seemed worried about his skating on the big ice.

Re: Olympic Rosters
Yah I read that too. Still a shame imo. He is very, very talented. I guess only time will tell if its the right move to make!
Re: Olympic Rosters
Orpik, Martin, Fowler, and Faulk over Byfuglien and Yandle were more surprising to me than Ryan being left off. I think sometimes too much emphasis gets put on the bigger rink, the difference is 200ft X 85 compared to 210 X 98. I don't think an extra 10 X 13 causes good players to suddenly be useless. Sure there's more room out there and it can benefit good skaters, but I think the impact of a little extra space gets overblown and doesn't have that big of an impact.
Re: Olympic Rosters
Wait...they are worried about ryans skating but orpik made the team? I think I read bylsma was involved in choosing the team? If the case martin and orpik don't shock me too much.
Faulk is the real deal and so is fowler imo.

Re: Olympic Rosters
I think Faulk and Fowler are very good young players too. I would have taken Buff over Orpik and I think Yandle would have been their best option to QB the PP and could have been used as a 7th D to deploy when the team was behind and needed offence.
I'm sure Canada will have it's share of head scratching omissions too.
