I believe this is a matter of Sutter's system not working more so then lack of man power. I do 100% agree with that bottom 3, Leir, Gauthier and Anderson having no right being there as multiple better options being available, but today was about Sutter being out coached.

That power play was frustrating to watch. When a pp doesn't work, simplify and go to the points. Their fixation with that low slot play was annoying and very easy to shut down for the opposition. Some point shots would have not only provided some scoring chances but opened up the down low play. I understand the Sutter mentality of "don't panic, stick with it" but there is a difference between beginning to panic and adjusting. We desperately needed to try something else on that PP.

The Fins played exactly how they needed to in order to win. Unreal game by every member of that team. That coach was coach of the year in the SM-Liiga and is a frontrunner to get a north American gig. Hats off to him and his team because they were better than us from start to finish.

Normally I'm a sutter fan, but feel like he took a different approach this year. In taking McDavid and not playing him it feel like it created a weird situation. For some reason he had the shortest leash, just seems like sutter chose to look for grease and grinder goals rather than having some flash. Except for Drouin who tried to be a Russian superstar.

imo you just described sutter in a nutshell. Just swap Mcdavids name out with a different star year to year. He had the most talented team in Canadian history in 05, and his systems still worked in 06. I was unhappy when he was announced and hopefully this is the last we see.

Hopefully we can reclaim our hockey supremacy at the Olympics.
