Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
Yes. Keeps gm active and mirrors the nhl rule allowing trades for non playoff teams.
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
Will wait to vote on this as i need to think..
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
Can't non playoff teams just agree to trades in principle and then announce them at the conclusion of the playoffs?
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
when we used to be allowed to trade playoff teams would do this very thing and after they were eliminated they would post. No rule against discussing trades period and trades were made in every year this very way. Although, last year there were basically no trades because people did not log in very often during the playoffs.Bruyns wroteCOLONCan't non playoff teams just agree to trades in principle and then announce them at the conclusion of the playoffs?

Note.
Playoff teams can trade once eliminated from playoffs. It is not a case in which if you made the playoffs, you have to wait for the conclusion of them to trade. You just have to wait for you own playoff exit.
At least that is the NHL rule and the one we used to use.

Although I tried to say it in the poll header but there's a 100 character max.

-1 on attitude. Def not something we can all do.
I vote no. Not because I make the playoffs ( I voted no back when I missed as well) -> but rather because of actual practice differences.
During the NHL playoffs, no teams make big trades, if they do, they're held off announcing them until after the playoffs, because the playoffs should be all anyone gives an F about. 52 weeks in the year, 6 week trade deadline + 4 weeks of playoffs to not post a trade doesn't seems like a problem to me. 42 weeks to post trades, many of the non-playoff teams are inactive throughout many of those weeks as it stands. All I see it as it for teams that miss or are knocked out early a chance to make some drama, "blowing it up, non-playoff teams get a chance at championship pieces, etc".
Trading is awesome, the talks are one of, if not the, best aspects of the league. Yet by making the playoffs (and/or going on a deep run) you are left out of talks?
-> Just confirm and post later you say? Great, everyone should follow those rules.
For reality's sake, we should be clear: The NHL doesn't say 'no trades during the playoffs' -> trade deadline day is the last day players are eligible for playoffs.
If for some reason a team lost its goalies to injury before the last game of the season, they could trade for another goalie. But that player wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs.
