Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
man, Lee has been all over this shit
i'm not gonna lie, not trading can get boring as hell.
however, i do think we need a trade freeze (like the NHL) but then we can trade again in the playoffs

Hell, I'll take point on maintaining that forums and the transition to our regular forum.

For trade deadline to matter to non-playoff teams rosters, they shouldn't be processed for them either. goalies/skater gp etc...
Right... Yay discussion
This is a very good point as well, which may not allow teams to process trades during the playoffs. GP totals count during our playoffs as well, even for non playoff teams. You shouldn't be allowed to trade for GP during the playoffs, meaning trades cannot be processed. What would the roadblocks be to allowing trades be posted and updating your spreadsheet, but not processing until after playoffs?
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
Yes..trade deadline is a complete freeze of all trades for all teams. In the proposal, once play offs start, all teams can trade but trades will not be processed until after the playoffs and the NHL regular season is over.Fair Deals Steve wroteCOLONman, Lee has been all over this shit

Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
Playoff teams are already required to post their active roster, CBS the over-ruling active roster indicator as it stands (no change there).
On our Google doc spread sheets, Week 25 is where you update trades that occur during the playoffs.
Week 18 -> 25 would be our trade deadline & playoff frozen rosters.
BBKL.ca would be a live record of all trades as well.
So, this would give interest for everyone to log in, seems like a well-documented situation & a relatively close mirror to the NHL.

I will flatter myself haha. Although definitely not my intent, this has been a great league wide discussion where the majority of the league is having it's opinion heard. otherwise last years complaints would have been the basis for our opinions and may not have held as much weight. Would we have had the same outcome, maybe, even probably but, maybe not. I'd like to see more of this now that the Dog days of Scott are over with and we can have civilized discussions.Nick wroteCOLONDon't flatter yourself Shooker, trade deadline rules in discussion since trade deadline date has been in discussion hahaha

i'm a fan of league opinion. The more opinions we have (and votes) the better served the league will be, thus happier GMs = which promotes trading and discussions.
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
In a perfect world we would rely less on a CC based government and more on a public opinion poll.
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
Lots of items in our CBA that need proper discussion.

Agree 100%.Lee wroteCOLONIn a perfect world we would rely less on a CC based government and more on a public opinion poll.
Need GMs to think and read though, many have no interest in doing either.

Most guys in this league have no idea how active this league is compared to others. Heck, my brother can't even keep a 12 team keeper league alive.
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
I voted yes
Nick knows how I feel about this stupid fuckjng no trade durning the play-offs
last year durning the BBKL I gave two shits about BBKL because we couldn't trade, who won last year again ? Was it Scott and the Devils?

Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
Yes for me...it's not to have the option to make deals for the balance of the season. It doesn't affect competition but maybe you need some GP or you want to start focusing on the draft.
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
was about to object this to one of your previous posts, but i see this has been covered:Lee wroteCOLONThis is a very good point as well, which may not allow teams to process trades during the playoffs. non-playoff teams should not be allowed to process trades either because of the above.
If you want to trade for GP you have to do it before the deadline; the fact it will come earlier than in the past means this makes even more sense.
I also think it keeps things cleaner for the trades to be processed once the playoffs are over, as ALL trades made from X date (start of PO) to Y date (end of PO) will have yet to be processed.
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
Teams in the playoffs should not be able to post deals, whether they are processed or not.
So stupid.
So stupid.

An overwhelming majority of people disagree with your statement.
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
Of course they do.
I don't care what non-playoff teams do.

Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
..because we would simply make reference to a comprehensive CBA and we wouldn't need to discuss the same topics time after time.Lee wroteCOLONIn a perfect world we would rely less on a CC based government..
(actually, one of the major doubts in investing the required -and missed- time into putting together such CBA comes from the feeling/fear even a 'perfect' CBA wouldn't avoid yearly 'challenges' (and waste of times), especially if not generated as a shared co-production by CC members).
Re: Should non playoff teams be allowed to trade
I don't miss CC
1. Are standings for non-playoff teams finalized once our regular season ends and playoffs begin? (for waiver and draft pick ordering next season)
2. By not allowing trading for playoff teams, people feel left out and that they could potentially miss out on players going on a block when teams not in the playoffs have free reign.
3. If we implemented the no posting for playoff teams, someone like shiv(example, likely in po's) who trades alot could potentially be handcuffed on trading more as he had a deal in principal with a playoff team. This in turn would hamper non-playoff teams wanting to trade with teams who are actively in playoffs therefore creating (punishing) teams in playoffs.
I totally understand both sides of the coin here and i know if i was not in PO's i would probably feel the same way. But i also totally understand what Nick is trying to explain as well. The goal here is to come to a mutual agreement that benefits the league and doesn't hinder or curb activity or teams in PO's.
