People not in the playoffs can trade. Go nuts. You're all addicted to it anyways.

The teams in the playoffs have the playoffs to worry about. They don't need to be making teams to stay interested in this league like many people seem to think is required.

Thousands of trades are made every year, you guys are worried about missing out on one player? If you know somebody is available just inquire. I realize those that must make trades that day no matter what may not trade with you, but who cares?

I don't understand why a non-playoff team would want to only shop their players to half the league if playoff teams couldn't trade. The player won't be on your team until next season anyways so why would they HAVE to make a trade when it has no bearing on their current team? Wait until all 30 teams can trade to get maximum value, this is just common sense.

It seems real simple to me. Either no one can trade from the trade deadline to the conclusion of the playoffs or everyone can trade, but they don't get processed until the playoffs conclude. Those are the only options that are fair to all and make sense. In both cases the trades don't make an impact on your 2013-2014 BBKL team so who really cares. If you want to promote activity than allow trades, but don't process them or if you want the focus to be on the playoffs and believe teams have all Summer to trade than don't allow trades to be posted.

This shouldn't be an issue, both have zero bearing on 2013-14 rosters. I originally voted no since I have no need to trade after the deadline and there is a lengthy offseason to make moves, but after reading that it helped keep up interest and nothing would be processed anyways I changed to yes since I didn't see any harm in it.

At last count, 18 votes yes, meaning some play off teams care. This league is not about what you or any other individual wants. You should care about the health of the league. Otherwise, why are you a site admin?

true. However, if you were here in previous yrs you would know that is still not how it works in bbkl.

same position for me.

that was my preference, as going by my bbkl experience i think GMs will care more about trades than about the ongoing playoffs, more so as they go deeper and fewer people are left in it.

However, such an early trade deadline kind of conflict with that preference (period without trades would become very long).

I care about the health of the league. I cannot believe people cannot wait 4 weeks to trade when you have 4 months of offseason. Making a rush to make a deal for a player that won't play on your team until October.

Well there has been proof from last year. BBKL activity literally died for that period and went into the summer because people stopped coming on. If people trading will keep activity up, let it happen. It doesn't impact anyone in any way.

I miss having you there.
CAM wroteCOLON 1. Are standings for non-playoff teams finalized once our regular season ends and playoffs begin? (for waiver and draft pick ordering next season)
Yes, assuming BBKL regulations are met.

CAM wroteCOLON 2. By not allowing trading for playoff teams, people feel left out and that they could potentially miss out on players going on a block when teams not in the playoffs have free reign.
yep, as you recall this has been discussed many times :)
CAM wroteCOLON 3. If we implemented the no posting for playoff teams, someone like shiv(example, likely in po's) who trades alot could potentially be handcuffed on trading more as he had a deal in principal with a playoff team. This in turn would hamper non-playoff teams wanting to trade with teams who are actively in playoffs therefore creating (punishing) teams in playoffs.
Hence we should avoid making different rules for Group A, from Group B.
CAM wroteCOLON I totally understand both sides of the coin here and i know if i was not in PO's i would probably feel the same way. But i also totally understand what Nick is trying to explain as well. The goal here is to come to a mutual agreement that benefits the league and doesn't hinder or curb activity or teams in PO's.
and you see this as an agreeable middle ground ?

ALL teams can trade.
ALL teams can post trades on BBKL.
No team will have trades processed on CBS until after the playoffs.

= we have a functional trade deadline, keep league activity up, no separate rules for either group; PO/nonPO teams being punished, allows for accurate record keeping. And a plus that I always value, closer to the actual NHL rules.

There doesn't need to be 30 GM's signing on every day in the off-season. It's the off-season, regardless that this is a massive dynasty league, people need a break. People get burnt out. Why do you think we have so many quitters that want to rejoin realizing they miss it?

It's a fucking grind. If people need to be on this thing all day every day, that's their problem. If people need to make constant trades to stay interested, that's a problem. I don't understand how you guys need to make trades to stay interested in this league. But apparently I'm in the minority of actually enjoying the league rather than the addiction of trading.

After a quick glance, 60+ trades were made in the last 5 weeks. That's going to be a disaster to process all at once. But, since you guys cannot go a week without trading, have at it!

No one is forcing anyone to log on during the off season. Those that do and want to trade shouldn't be punished ( not allowed to trade) because of another persons diminished interest during that period.

saying that slow periods by the non-traders, punishes the traders... in some weird communist world.

I see no reason not to let playoff teams to trade. Those trades have 0 bearing on the playoffs as they will not be processed until afterwards.

It will be quite fun watching 40+ trades get processed at once. I don't see any issues arising from this.

Not allowing traders to trade because non active, non traders aren't here, that is punishment.
