TBL shake up block
Re: TBL shake up block
Sorry Paul, I have no interest in Campbell, and even less in Danny B.
Like you said when you acquired Campbell, his value will increase once the cap does, right now he's a heavy bill for dman scoring. I also find it hard to believe how few points Bogo has, he should easily be a 10g/30a 40ish point dman, but this year 25 points would be a good outcome.
and to think, I added to Fowler to land Bogo. Didn't trust my gut on that one!

Re: TBL shake up block
ya i'm sort of with Paul on this one, i think the upside of sustr > jake, but we each have our own opinions.
it was a very slight short term gain for a potiential long term loss.

Jake = 3-4 dman for life
Andrej = top 2 shutdown man
Skjei = 3-4 dman for life

Re: TBL shake up block
Jake is already 22min+ regularly.... not rare for him to be 24+min and the top toi player in the game... Hard to call that a 3-4 dman, even as it stands. Yes, he needs to be more consistent, but if or when he becomes so, his minutes will likely be in the 25+ club.
if you value him less than that, do not bother offering. This is not a fire sale or an i think my team sucks moment... just expressing a willingness to shuffle things up.

Jake has lots of positives, but lets we fotget he's also been a healthy scratch as of late for Mark Fraser. That has to say something about him IMO.Nick wroteCOLONJake is already 22min+ regularly.... not rare for him to be 24+min and the top toi player in the game... and i'm not bashing jake, i obviously value him (not nearly has high as you clearly), but i think you miss a lot of facts/stats. and get blinded by names. Anyways, like always, i will be moving a long.

Re: TBL shake up block
Gotta back Jake here.
The only reason Jake has been scratched over Fraser is because Randy is an idiot.
That being said, I agree with the rest of what Steve said. If you want a player from Nick, name value is the way to do it.

Re: TBL shake up block
oh i wasn't bashing jake, i also think randy is a fucking retard. But yes, in order to complete a deal here you have to sell a player on the name on his jersey, not his stat line. As nick indicates above, there isn't a big difference from Sustr's stats and Jakes stats, let alone i'm adding a recent 1st rd pick and current World Junior stud.SuperMario wroteCOLONGotta back Jake here.

And some ppl are too obsessed with stat lines.
Need a fine balance steve.

Re: TBL shake up block
You mean I incorporate more than just his current year stats, potentially even my evaluation of a player, when talking trade value..... Bizarre.

i'd say look up in the standings if that indicates much of anything.
Re: TBL shake up block
3 guys not (although I would not say we ignore such details):
Shep, Shook & me.
Hell, add CAM + hong to this group as well.

Re: TBL shake up block
Even funnier when someone bothers to check into what Steve is saying:
http://bbkl.hockey.cbssports.com/player ... :p/scoring?
Stats would say I walk away from the deal.

News: (01/16/14) Andrej Sustr was demoted to AHL Syracuse on Thursday, the Tampa Bay Times' Damian Cristodero reports.

Re: TBL shake up block
Actually Shook and Shep are more on the stats side than the name side Nick. Shook for sure is.
And that doesn't mean we don't look at name value either. E.g. I wouldn't trade Moulson for Chris Neil or something. But name value only means anything to a point. When I get into debates with BBKLers who like to play "scout" and project future superstars out of players that aren't obvious and put them ahead of young, stat-producing players, that is when I have a problem.
As far as your talks here with Steve, I wouldn't move Gardiner for that either. My reason being that he has more upside than Paul and Steve think. My comment about you liking name value was that if someone gets Gardiner from you, they'll have to give up a name piece in the deal. Look at our Mikko for Yak + Cizikas deal. We both love it for ourselves. But those are the only trades where a win-win can be generated with you IMO.

Re: TBL shake up block
One look at Sheppards team shows that he goes after players he likes... some of them have good numbers no doubt.
Shook -plays scout- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. IMO and in my conversations with him at least.

but lets be honest, shep is sort of all over the place this year, we'll call him a contending version of Paul.
