Kessel + Lapierre

Post by thom54 »

Going to bed now, fucking want 5 hours of sleep. But send in your offers for this package. I'll hopefully see them on my iphone.

Night BBKL, kisses!

i'm going to be the devils advocate and say (more times than not) that being patient in the bbkl means you'll miss out on more deals than actually get. Most of us here have a low level of attention and tolerance. If i'm told to wait, i move on (as a lot of guys do). I blame it on ADHD

This is exactly right. When a player like Kessel/Ryjo etc get put on the block for the first time, everyone goes into frenzy mode. Like "OMFG, Player X is finally available". The offers at the beginning are usually the best. As people get yanked around, they stop caring. I know I haven't made nearly as many offers on Kessel in the last month as I did before that. Because the novelty wears off. You realize all Kessel does is score in BBKL and while that is great, it doesn't help you win as much as a guy like say Oshie

i must say i agree with shiv here...not a shot at thom or billy or anyone else with new blocks...but once i own a player (even once) the new car smell wears off, and i find myself bored with my 'new toy'

same theory can be applied to making offers, my first few are the best, after a while i give up/and or they get worse.

I'm probably more likely to move new pieces than I am to move pieces that i've owned for a while… no value on the 'new car smell' but heavy value on the guys that performed for me in the past.

I've put a lot of thought into this. I always go back and analyze bad deals I've made. Some of the worst deals I've made involve players where I said to myself "OMFG, I must have player X. He is a franchise player in the real NHL, surely he will help me here." In the process, I end up giving up 2 solid pieces, who while may not be as big in name are better collectively than Player X + replacement.

That being said, not trying to trash Kessel, Thom. I'd pay for him for sure. More of a philosophical debate here lol.

well it's better than talking drugs at least..

errr.. actually.. Thom being the doctor, i think you guys should do the opposite: bring here the drugs stuff and move the 'philosophical debate' to Brad's thread :)

Perhaps putting scrubs on for surgery makes it something other than lame - but putting a suit on to sit in airports and airplanes for 4.5 hours is lame.

I will say, I'd trade oshie 1 for 1 for kessel, only because we're all leaf fans, and then I'd flip kessel for more.

Scoring is now the most under-rated stat in the BBKL

Someone who reliably puts up high end goals, assists, points, shots on goal, special team points and has a better chance at gwg, pushes any team closer towards contending. Only trouble is their cap, because guys that score take up more cap.
