I'm not normally the type to do that but that one just felt appropriate. This year is really bad for the Leafs. Last year was very upsetting but they made it in and forward progress seemed inevitable. This year is truly mind boggling considering where they were.

Wrong system for the team the leafs have iced.

Few of my western buddies were talking about that this weekend (out for beers). None of them are leaf fans but have watched enough leaf games (because of me) to get an idea of the leafs problems. All of them said pretty much the same thing:

The system Caryle seems to be running isn't fit for the style of players the leafs have. They all said that Rielly and Gardiner have incredible offensive instincts but yet seem causious because of the system the leafs were playing. They also noticed that randy plays the top like like 30 fucking mins a game and only gives the 2nd and 3rd lines like 11mins (the past few games) he's burning out kessel and jvr.

By the end of the weekend they were all saying the same thing...leafs need someone to help Dion, and randy needs to be fired.

I just don't get how its either 'bar none the most active gm in bbkl' or 'don't want to manage one' why not just, have your team, make a few trades here and there, keep an eye on the forums and watch hockey?

When you are a really competitive person, it's often one or the other. I don't want to speak for Shiv, but I get the sense that he doesn't feel like he can give this league 100% moving forward, and he's never been the type to do anything less. I think anything less than 100% is not worth Shiv's time, just my opinion though.
