I sent out hundreds of PM's while moving Staal. Lots responded and lots read them but didnt reply (slow horses). I lose a Center but i dont need one back and steves offer (finally) was something i was comfortable accepting. Shed cap, got a 2for1 like i wanted and gain stats. Staal had a 'cold' year, but i dont think he is built up to be anything better than that from here out. The names in this deal might swing your decision at a quick glance.

much like fantrax, CBS does a player ranking, and Brad Marchand is the #1 ranked CBS player (according to the stats we use). Staal is ranked 232.

If staal doesn't rebound i lose this deal.

the cbs and fantrax rank system assumes any stat is worth the same as the one next to it. so +1 = 1 goal = 1hit = 1 shot = etc.

any negative player is therefor hugely under-appreciated, as are players who's best attribute are the 'lower' frequency categories such as goals/gwg/assists/stpts/points - and it over-ranks positive players with high sog & hits.


This past summer I showed what a normalized comparison looks like. Very different.
