Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
When are we going to recognize the name change? I believe the Coyotes will start going by the Arizona Coyotes at the entry draft next week.
So there's no confusion with draft picks...I'd recommend that we stick with PHO/Phoenix for the existing 2015 picks if you're trading them but I will refer to them as ARI/Arizona when do the next draft.
We've had some confusion in the past when teams would change identity...tracking picks were confusion when Billy and Shep switched between St. Louis and Hartford to Ottawa and St. Louis respectively. And I think we had Buffalo and Vancouver switch identity a few years back as well.
For the 2015 waiver draft and 2016 entry draft picks, I'd like to start referring to those as ARI/Arizona when those go live after our current draft(s).
Jim, your thoughts?

No.
complete overhaul to ARI effective immediately

Re: Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
btw, since Fantrax carries draft picks*, i'd say starting with the 2016 picks we should move them in trades via Fantrax, so that everyone has automatically available only the picks he does possess.
Obviously we need to have the 2016 picks added by the time the 2014 draft is over and they become tradable. -> this week.
* at least, that's what i was told,; however, how do we add 2016 picks to rosters?

Ask the admins...it sounded like we weren't going to use their draft picks. I just uploaded my 2016 picks site.
Re: Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
maybe those who have used Fantrax in the past (Dave, Matt..) know about it.Shoalzie wroteCOLONAsk the admins...it sounded like we weren't going to use their draft picks. I just uploaded my 2016 picks site.
And why wouldn't we use those picks if available? That way completing a deal on Fantrax would prevent the risk of double trading a pick without even realizing it.
(ATM I can't remember why we stopped using placeholders for picks on CBS)

Yes plz add them to fantrax otherwise i want cbs back
Re: Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
btw Scott, one thing i've been regularly missing in your great draft picks sheets are direct links that would allow to move from one to the other (say for example 2015 -> same page for 2014 -> same page for 2016)

Re: Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
We should just use the Arizona abbreviation going forward. There's been problems with name changes before but that was mostly when 2 gms would swap team names I believe.

I can do that.
Re: Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
Blah!
IMO we change all of them this summer. No double switch happening - but it is definitely a pain in the ass for records sake & tracking trades . Z

Re: Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
Id be happy to change over to Arizona starting immediately following the draft, just so all the draft stuff stays consistent.
Re: Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
abbreviate ARZ, not ARI...
Re: Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
ARI sounds a bit gay, ARZ cooler.

Re: Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
MLB.com also uses ARI also for the Diamondbacks...so, there's that. See Paul Goldschmidt.

I went with the abbreviations CBS used for every team but I might switch over to what Fantrax uses. If they use ARZ, I'll use ARZ. They use CBJ instead of CLB for Columbus and they use NAS instead of NSH for Nashville.

Re: Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes
NAS sucks though! I will stay consistent with NSH as far as my stuff goes
