2014-2015 BBKL schedule *Draft* on draft day

Post by Nick »

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... _web#gid=5

Explained decisions along line 38

Order of weeks is not set, just this was for formatting.

Current column "week 15" as well as one matchup in week 14 will be repeats. However this is a huge success - now just to decide which to repeat.

IMO: within division matchups.

Post any issues, concerns or comments. In season this year don't want to hear any ' I finally checked my schedule and...." This is not an easy document to make, and it's even harder to change.

The matchups seem fine. I hope there's some kind of way to rotate through out of division opponents and not end up playing the same teams every year.

Any thoughts on moving some of the division games to the last weeks of the season? Seems strange to not play any division opponents in the second half of the season considering the playoff format is division driven for the first two rounds. I don't know if it's that way for everyone.

I understand the new division format doesn't work well for a weekly fantasy schedule. The old 5 team divisions allowed there to be two matchups against each opponent.

"Last year was Atlanic vs Pacific, Metro versus Central
This year will be Atlantic vs Central, Metro vs Pacific"

Last year was as listed on NHL.com order divisional listings, this year is alphabetical "Same priority sequence:
1) play entire div
2) player rest of conf
3) random draw of matched out of conf-division (see first note)"

As previously discussed, due to odd # of teams in west the in-division week required a single cross per week. For simplicity sake (and thanks to non-bias sorting) simply matched with same position in other div) "marked the necessary repeats with (2)

Had an idea to try and remove by matching up with eastern conference....think I will run out of weeks" UPDATE: "so far so good, week 8 realignment a success, causes 3 repeated in week 14 but that is way down from repeats in week 8.

I can eliminate another 2 repeat in matches in week 14, but that still leaves 1. no way around it that I can see right now. Will update if the opportunity arises. " down to 5 western matchups - very minimal repeats to this point

my first thought is to have all doubles within same division - will post to league now. identified the repeat oppoents.

All are within division repeats clearly marked with a (2)

Sequence of weeks has not been set, will take a look on my lunch.
BOS: BUF DET FLA MTL OTT TBL TOR WSH PIT NYI NYR CBJ CAR EDM NJD PHI DAL MIN NSH COL CHI STL WPG

CGY : ANA LAK EDM SJS PHX COL VAN PHI WPG DAL MIN STL TOR NSH CHI PIT NYI PHI NJD CAR CBJ NYR WSH
Need to check how many week we're going to have, but we'll ensure we don't remove any divisional match ups if possible should the breakdown result in fewer than 23.

created new tab with an idea around week sequencing: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... web#gid=10
Week 1 div * Start the season with some within Division action
Week 2 div
Week 3 conf 3 weeks of conference action
Week 4 conf
Week 5 conf -> by week 5 a picture of where you sit in playoffs
Week 6 out - 3 weeks of out of conference play
Week 7 out
Week 8 out
Week 9 conf middle of season conf check in -> 2nd most likely week to be cut, if there are only 21 matches
Week 10 div Mixed in with divisional game
Week 11 conf middle of season conf check in
Week 12 con middle of season conf check in
Week 13 mix
Week 14 out
Week 15 div middle of season conf check in
Week 16 out
Week 17 out
Week 18 out -> most likely week to cut if there are only 22 matches, annoying for east, but removes 4 repeats in the west (2 matches)
Week 19 mix
Week 20 out
Week 21 div ---Wrap season up with most direct competitors (who you have not faced yes)
Week 22 div ---Wrap season up with most direct competitors (who you have not faced yes)
Week 23 div ---Wrap season up with most direct competitors (who you have not faced yes)

example, DET : OTT BOS NYI NYR PIT MIN CHI WPG WSH TBL CBJ PHI LAK FLA DAL NJD NSH CAR COL STL BUF TOR MTL

First look @ the complainers & problem teams from last time:

CAR: CBJ NJD TOR TBL FLA SJS EDM LAK OTT NYI MTL BUF BOS WSH ANA SJS VAN DET PHX CGY NYR PHI PIT

Division looks good, ditto on conference, no repeats.

MIN: NSH COL NYR ANA VAN DET BUF BOS PHX CHI CGY SJS EDM DAL FLA TBL OTT NSH (2) TOR MTL LAK WPG STL

Division is good, repeat of NSH but necessary as noted, conference is good, random draw of NYR is fine.

PHI: NJD WSH CGY FLA BUF BOS SJS CGY STL CBJ TBL DET MTL NYR PHX ANA LAK TOR VAN EDM PIT CAR NYI

division is good, no Ottawa, random draw of STL is fine, out of div is entire div balanced.

LAK :PHX CGY WPG CHI STL NJD CBJ CAR DAL ANA NSH COL DET EDM NYI PIT PHI EDM (2) WSH NYR MIN VAN SJS

Repeat of EDM, necessary, conference is good, out div = good, random draw of det.

first 7 weeks updated in Fantrax - same awful schedule entering system as CBS - makes the eyes go blurry and brain numb.

Let's avoid posts saying, " why don't I play in week X" and instead open the google doc for that week, and say " in week 5 I should be playing XYZ".
