Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
The Bruins currently have 0.4m in cap space with Krug, Smith and Caron to resign.
Savard will hit LTIR and that will open up 5mil in cap space. Elliott Freidman expects smith and krug to get the identical contract (or very similar) 3ish mil over 2 years.
McQuiad or Boychuck on their way out?

Chris Kelly is the guy who should be out
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Think Letang could really flourish with a change of scenery, this guy isn't just a product of the offensively gifted players on his team, rather I think he would better suited to be looked at as "the guy" to run a teams powerplay.

at 7.5mil x 8 years he better do more than just run a PP.
i think he's going to be a hard sell (at a top return anyways). He's had a stroke, concussion, and multiple injuries. I'm not too sure i'd assume that risk at his cap hit and term.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Totally agree on the contract being nuts, it may look better in time with a raising cap but with a player with that much inherent risk it definetely would be a tough sell. That being said if I was betting on Letang's future to either "boom or bust" in this league and prove his worthiness of that deal, I'd have to go on the positive end.The BBKL Insider wroteCOLONi'm not so sureFraser wroteCOLONThink Letang could really flourish with a change of scenery, this guy isn't just a product of the offensively gifted players on his team, rather I think he would better suited to be looked at as "the guy" to run a teams powerplay.

Pitts could retain some salary at 5.5m I might take that risk

Dreger or Mckenzie (one of them) said they qualifed him to try and trade him. But once you qualify someone dont you have to sign them? he can't be let go now unless they do trade him.Chuck Norris wroteCOLONThey qualified him...if they didn't want to then why bother?Tony wroteCOLONpretty sure I read Boston isn't re-signing Caron
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
To my knowledge if the Bruins don't want to retain him now they could shut down negotiations and Caron would have the option of either accepting his QO or wait until December to become a UFA.The BBKL Insider wroteCOLONDreger or Mckenzie (one of them) said they qualifed him to try and trade him.
