In Season Waiver Claims

Post by Handsome&FairMike »

Sorry if this is listed elsewhere but a quick answer would be appreciated. (or the link to the appropriate information)

If I want to claim a player (free agent), do I have to have enough cap space to accept his salary before I move him to the minors or can I directly claim and send him down?

Thanks boys.

If he is waiver eligible, there needs to be acceptable room on your active roster. If he is waiver exempt, you can just claim and place in minors. Otherwise everyone would just claim as many players as possible and hoard in the minors.

If they have to clear waivers you can sign them and waive them to send them down.
