LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENTS thread (Discussion)
re LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENTS thread
It would be nice if we stopped flip flopping. NHL teams can trade as soon as the regular season is over. There is documented, verified evidence of this. It was allowed last year in BBKL. And the year before. It also makes no sense to have a trade deadline on the second last week of our year.

Mik: locking the thread will prevent this. Not sure why it doesn't get locked?

Re: LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENTS thread
I'd trade if the right deal came along. I have no interest in fringe NHLers and old farts. My team is based on youth. Make me offers based on that.
Hell, I traded for Mikael Granlund, Brandon Pirri and Alex Killorn all on the same day.

So the trades hiatus actually shortens, from more than 7 weeks to less than 6 weeks.
1 - CC was never able to address the G potential problem (i.e. regulating an exception for when a G is injured and his NHL team trades for a new one), so having our deadline after the NHL one takes care of that.
2 - NHL trades being over will allow GMs to be able to react to real trades they have no control over, and will probably create reasons for more deadline trades
3 - it makes the BBKL trades hiatus more viable for non playoff teams' GMs while keeping BBKL Playoffs trades-free, which means not having the BBKL focus shifting from our playoffs to trades, which is automatically the case otherwise, and sucks.
Actually, last season trades closed on February 3rd and re-opened on March 26th. This year they close on March 2nd and re-open on April 12th.Lee wroteCOLONIt would be nice if we stopped flip flopping. NHL teams can trade as soon as the regular season is over. Re: Re League Announcement Thread
Why not just make an exception to the NHL goalie trade at NHL deadline for bbkl. Have a deadline say feb 15, and if a guy loses his goalie, which is unlikely, then he can trade with a non playoff team to acquire one within 3-5 days of NHL deadline. Doesn't seem hard.

I'm with you Matt. I don't think this has a large impact on the playoffs every year either.Matthew wroteCOLONWhy not just make an exception to the NHL goalie trade at NHL deadline for bbkl. And having the trade deadline earlier at an appropriate time makes you have to commit to going for it or sitting on your hands earlier on. More interesting and realistic IMO.

Yeah, I'm fine with a deadline. As long as there is meaning to it. Right now it just actively disengages non play off teams from the league.
