LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENTS thread (Discussion)
Re: Re League Announcement Thread
not that it would change things for this season, but it would be nice to read some reasons behind your opinions guys.
Like why a trade deadline two weeks before the end of the RS doesn't have any meaning in your heads.

Why are you guys bitching
Imo a late BBKL deadline will increase activity as teams will try to load up

Re: Re League Announcement Thread
Are you not completely free to discuss and complete tentative agreements? You can still talk trade and agree to as many as you want, just don't post them until the conclusion of the playoffs.Lee wroteCOLONHandsome&FairMike wroteCOLONI'm with you Matt. I don't think this has a large impact on the playoffs every year either.Matthew wroteCOLONWhy not just make an exception to the NHL goalie trade at NHL deadline for bbkl. Have a deadline say feb 15, and if a guy loses his goalie, which is unlikely, then he can trade with a non playoff team to acquire one within 3-5 days of NHL deadline. Doesn't seem hard.
And having the trade deadline earlier at an appropriate time makes you have to commit to going for it or sitting on your hands earlier on. More interesting and realistic IMO.
Yeah, I'm fine with a deadline. As long as there is meaning to it. Right now it just actively disengages non play off teams from the league.
Re: Re League Announcement Thread
It means a team like mine (19 points out) and probably closer this week, never has to make a choice between being a buyer or seller. I can just play a wait and see game. Therefor I don't need to pay a bottom five team prospects if I think I can make a drive for the playoffs. I can just wait to see how things play out, and by 2 weeks before playoffs it will probably have played itself out. Even if I load up a bit 2 weeks of an improved roster won't make that big of a difference.

The league boasts parity to the NHL rules and yet year after this, this same discussion comes up with different rules every year. The NHL rules state that non playoff teams can trade once the regular season is over.Bruyns wroteCOLONAre you not completely free to discuss and complete tentative agreements? To me that rule would be unfair to playoff teams, so I propose that everyone can post trades, just not complete them.

I aint fuckin opening up a new word document and 'stash' deals somewhere man fuk that
Re: Re League Announcement Thread
You know you aren't going to be a buyer. Most teams know if they have a legitimate shot at winning and teams aren't going to give up the future to sneak into 7th or 8th.Matthew wroteCOLONIt means a team like mine (19 points out) and probably closer this week, never has to make a choice between being a buyer or seller. To Lee's point he is incorrect that non-playoff teams can trade.
"Playoff teams can make trades during the playoffs. They just are not 'official' until both teams involved in the trade are eliminated.

It is like I was saying make as many trades as you want just wait to post them. Why does it matter if they are posted during the BBKL finals or a week later?

Holy sh*t stop bitching.
Last 5 years we've had 2 Olympics and the lock out, means repeating dates haven't been an option. The reasoning behind these dates is sound, the decision came about quickly
In the CC so there is no unfairness in the process.
The nhl has lots of frozen trade windows that we do not, this is a very short period of
Time to have a hiatus on trades. Put on your adult diapers and quit crying.

Re: Re League Announcement Thread
Just as Matt said. You know 2 weeks before (aside from maybe a couple teams) if you're in or out of the playoffs. With 6-8 weeks ago, you have an extra 5-10 teams that are closer to the fringe. Then you have to take injuries, schedule, etc into account. It makes deciding to go for it that much more involved. More like the NHL.kyuss wroteCOLONnot that it would change things for this season, but it would be nice to read some reasons behind your opinions guys.

Michal Handzus, Roman Cechmanek and Trevor Linden have been traded during the playoffs.

I know trades can be made, I was saying it isn't just non-playoff teams that can make them. Playoff teams can trade during the playoffs too and the trades are just made official at a later date.Lee wroteCOLONBruyns wroteCOLONYou know you aren't going to be a buyer. Why does it matter to you when the trades are posted? They don't impact anything if they are posted during or after the playoffs.
Re: Re League Announcement Thread
I think he wants them posted but not fantraxed. If they aren't posted people can back out and thus discussing trades seems like a waste. I don't care either way.

Re: Re League Announcement Thread
I could pose the same question to you, Matt. Why does it matter to you when the trades are posted?
Re: Re League Announcement Thread
It puts focus on discussing trades when IMO the focus should be on the playoffs. I wasn't in them last year and not guaranteed to be this year, but if Mike and Steve were playing in the finals and pages of discussion were all about a few trades I find that takes away from what should be the focus of who is BBKL champion. I see no reason why it needs to be posted when it won't have any affect?Lee wroteCOLONI could pose the same question to you, Matt. Why does it matter to you when the trades are posted?
Your turn now, why does it matter to you to post them during the playoffs instead of after.
Re: Re League Announcement Thread
I've said a few times now that it actively disengages non play off teams from the league.
Re: Re League Announcement Thread
My counter was it does not since you are still allowed to make as many trades as you see fit. I guess it can be said GMs can back out since it isn't posted, but that's pretty bad etiquette and wouldn't be something I'd expect many GMs would do.Lee wroteCOLONI've said a few times now that it actively disengages non play off teams from the league.
