BBKL Playoff Talk:
Re: BBKL Playoff Talk:
In our IFFHL league we do straight 1 to 16 standings....
1 vs 16
2 vs 15
etc
1 vs 16
2 vs 15
etc
Re: BBKL Playoff Talk:
I'm not advocating for anything that drastic.
I perfectly understand the aim of this league is resembling the NHL as much as possibile. But that shouldn't be taken to the extreme of applying NHL rules that might work for the NHL but not for BBKL, which is inevitably a very different league.
I could live with using the NHL playoff system when it comes to qualification and in-division matchups, but the current seeding system is not fair and counter productive for our league as it takes away interest from several matchups in the latter part of the season.

Already been mentioned, but playing 4 teams per week in an 82GP format (as allowed in Fantrax) will align the BBKL playoff seeding more accurately.kyuss wroteCOLONI'm not advocating for anything that drastic.

Just sayin.

This playoff seeding suggestion logically makes sense for the how the regular season is currently scheduled this year in BBKL.dave1959 wroteCOLONIn our IFFHL league we do straight 1 to 16 standings....

After being in the playoffs the first year I was in the league (albeit losing in the first round) and then doing the several years of retooling/rebuilding...I'd love to be back in the spot where I'm in the playoff hunt. I definitely would rather be a playoff team annual and maybe one time make a deep run and flirt with the league title. Rebuilding in a dynasty league is a long process.

Mik, either BBKL aligns with NHL or it doesn't. Right now, BBKL is in between two worlds.kyuss wroteCOLON how so? I think those are two completely separate issues
As is: BBKL wants to use the NHL format for playoffs, but uses the BBKL fantasy format for regular season. Like putting a square peg in a round hole.
82 game schedule will provide the balance of 6-7 divisional games, 3-4 conference, and 2 out of conference games. Play-off seedings will then more accurately reflect what happened during the season.
Or, keep the schedule as is and use Dave's suggestion.
Fantasy regular season (BBKL current) = Fantasy play-off seeding (Dave's suggestion)
NHL regual season (4 teams per week) = NHL play-off seeding (BBKL current)

Re: BBKL Playoff Talk:
I think it was against you, Steve...and yes, I remember it being fairly close.
I took over the year the Wings were dealing with injuries and some guys were having off years and I got an itchy trigger finger and start trading guys away rather than letting things play out. I'm far more patient with players knowing what I know now. And I also didn't value prospect depth. I traded several key players for under market value and that's probably where my drop to the bottom of the standings began. It's been a tough climb ever since.

that's true, but if you read what I posted, you should realize that has nothing to do with what I'm talking aboutLeanMachine wroteCOLONMik, either BBKL aligns with NHL or it doesn't. Right now, BBKL is in between two worlds.kyuss wroteCOLON how so? I think those are two completely separate issues

would still suck as hard as todayNHL regual season (4 teams per week) = NHL play-off seeding (BBKL current)

Re: BBKL Playoff Talk:
Has a lot to do with what you are talking about Mik. Regular season schedule --> regular season standings --> playoff seedings.
pretty sure you just aren't open to hear it.

Re: BBKL Playoff Talk:
I don't really see negatives to increasing the amount of teams we play per week. Even increasing it to 2 would be an improvement and hopefully the CC is looking at implementing it for next season.

I think these big ideas/changes should be considered and voted upon by the entire league...not just 4 or 5 guys.

Re: BBKL Playoff Talk:
our scoring system makes the standings wider spread then they actually are. I've said that for 7 years. More races would be good for the league, accurate standings would be good for the league.I would be so opposed to mulit-matchup-weeks (MMW) with our 2 points per category scoring system... you'd be talking about 2624 points, LOL.

Re: BBKL Playoff Talk:
agreed, it would just look ridiculous IMO. I hope we can put some more consideration into a W-L-T format + MMW which would mimic the NHL as much as possible.Nick wroteCOLONour scoring system makes the standings wider spread then they actually are. Why does the amount of points make a difference? It's not like the amount of points now is accurate when compared to the NHL.
Re: BBKL Playoff Talk:
how about we not make a decision based on the opinion that an arbitrary number of points "looks bad"
