Yeah I would definitely try trading Kessel. Wouldn't take a shitty offer though. It has to be worth it.

Re: Leafs Apologize to Fans
do you think Florida comes out swining for Kessel? I do, they have a bold GM who doesn't mind making moves. They wont give up Bjudstad, Huber, Ekblad and probably a few others.Arian The Insider wroteCOLONYeah I would definitely try trading Kessel. Wouldn't take a shitty offer though. It has to be worth it.
You'd have to think the leafs would demand Gudbranson, 1st + something else (prospect or young forward)

Re: Leafs Apologize to Fans
Florida is a good fit. No media pressure for Kessel either. I would take a 1st + ? + Petrovic personally. But if they're gonna be cheap and not move any higher end prospect then idk. Personally I'm not the biggest Gudbranson fan but maybe Shanny would like him.
Re: Leafs Apologize to Fans
I wonder if the Rangers would have considered Kessel with retained salary rather than Yandle?
Duclair + 1st + 2nd + Moore + (Something else, like Skjei)?
considering the first 4 pieces went for Yandle, I think an add like Skjei seems fair given Yandle is slightly older and produces less. Although I dont know if NYR could fit Kessel's contract even with 50% retained.

who knows, Bob Mckenzie would have heard something about NY if they had interest. I dont see many fits for Kessel. Florida because they have the caproom, a no pressure market, and top young players to make a deal work.Matthew wroteCOLONI wonder if the Rangers would have considered Kessel with retained salary rather than Yandle?

The Blue Jackets would be a good team for Kessel as well. Could you imagine Ryjo feeding kessel the puck.

i think the leafs would fight for Gudbranson.
Re: Leafs Apologize to Fans
I don't see Florida giving up any of their core young pieces for a guy 7 or 8 years older than that core. Florida may make the playoffs now, but If they hold steady with this core they could be a top team in the east in 2 or 3 years. I could see the Blue Jackets being interested.
I could also see a team in a real win now position being interested. Anaheim has a ton of young assets with 4 million in cap space.
They already have Fowler, Beauchemin, Lindholm, Vatenen, Wisnieweski, Manson and Despres on the roster at the back end.
That is a pretty talented Defense. Given Perry and Getzlaf are about to turn 30, and Kesler is 30, Kessel wouldnt be out of place with that core.
This could be way off base, but you guys think Anaheim would do something around Nick Ritchie + Shea Theodore + Noesen with Kessel at 50% retained? That would make them deep at O and D.
Belesky - Getzlaf - Perry
Kessel - Kesler - Palmieri
Sekac - Rakell - Etem
Cogliano - Thompson - Silfverberg
Flash, Maroon

Paul that's why I had a piece before Petrovic. Petrovic would be the 3rd piece in the deal if you could read. Gosh, sometimes I wonder if you're even Asian.
Re: Leafs Apologize to Fans
I didnt see how many years Kessel has left on his contract. Yikes. Yeah, 50% is too much for 7 years. The BBKL Insider wroteCOLON50% retained makes you sound nuts.Matthew wroteCOLONI don't see Florida giving up any of their core young pieces for a guy 7 or 8 years older than that core. And Shutup, Paul. I'm sure the Leafs want a superstar Centerman, but no team is going to hand you their rebuild that they spent 5 years on in exchange for a winger who will be 28 years old next season. It doesnt make sense for rebuilding teams unless they are ready to compete. You will need to draft your own stud Center.

Re: Leafs Apologize to Fans
Ya no way they are retaining 50%. That's 4M in dead cap space until 2024. Kessel is only 27 so I don't think he is so old that he can't be a part of a future Leafs team. He is an ironman who never misses games and is supposedly one of the strongest and fit players every year at camp according to teammates and doesn't play a game that puts a lot of wear and tear on his body. I see no reason why he can't still be productive in his early 30s.
Re: Leafs Apologize to Fans
Why thebfuck would we retain 50% of kessel? Also, if we did, wed surely get more than Ritchie, theadore and noesen. I mean, come on....
Re: Leafs Apologize to Fans
Regardless of what his teammates say kessel sure doesn't look like one of our strongest and fit players :/.Bruyns wroteCOLONYa no way they are retaining 50%. That's 4M in dead cap space until 2024. I'd actually take that offer with nothing retained, however the leafs would have to eat a bad contract if they had one.KapG wroteCOLONWhy thebfuck would we retain 50% of kessel? Also, if we did, wed surely get more than Ritchie, theadore and noesen. I mean, come on....

Lol you can't just do that. That makes literally no sense.Matthew wroteCOLONI know. Two bad packages of deals. The bruins rob Canadian teams.

There is no chance we'll have to retain salary in a Kessel trade.
People are forgetting Kessel was top 5 in goals and points when Carlyle was fired. He's had a bad HALF season.

Yes it does. I wasn't comparing single deals. I was comparing what Boston took from each teams in exchange for what that team received.Shep wroteCOLONLol you can't just do that.
