NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
i just don't see rob blake uprooting his family and giving up a great job with the Kings in the best climate on earth to take a job with the leafs.
i dont see him everyday anymore like i did when i worked for the Kings, but i coach against him and see him around every once in awhile when i go to the Jr Kings rinks for meetings. dude is happy as can be. he has it sweet here. he's supposed to coach a peewee aaa team this season - he cant just up and leave - think of the children!

Gilmour should be the president of hockey ops for Leafs, not GM. He can build a brand for the Leafs and what it means to be a Leaf.

Thank god...waited all season. Looking forward to some big trades at the draft.
Also, we have a 9.5% chance of winning the lottery next saturday.

We need some luck but I'll take a 1 in 10 chance...Could be quite the exciting beginning of a rebuild if we get lucky.Bruyns wroteCOLONOnly 10.5% less than BuffaloSuperMario wroteCOLONThank god...waited all season. Looking forward to some big trades at the draft.

Happy with whoever we get at 4 or 5, but 1st would be incredible.SuperMario wroteCOLONWe need some luck but I'll take a 1 in 10 chance...Could be quite the exciting beginning of a rebuild if we get lucky.Bruyns wroteCOLONOnly 10.5% less than BuffaloSuperMario wroteCOLONThank god...waited all season. TBH, 4 or 5 makes me feel like we'll be in the dumps for quite some time as a franchise (e.g. where Edmonton has been). Just praying for a miracle.Bruyns wroteCOLONHappy with whoever we get at 4 or 5, but 1st would be incredible.SuperMario wroteCOLONWe need some luck but I'll take a 1 in 10 chance...Could be quite the exciting beginning of a rebuild if we get lucky.Bruyns wroteCOLONOnly 10.5% less than BuffaloSuperMario wroteCOLONThank god...waited all season. Also, 18 toronto scouts fired...talk about cleaning house
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I'll be honest, the Leafs are one of the few teams I hope do not win the lottery.
The main reason being... the pressure for the kid would be almost unbearable in Toronto.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
The teams with youth seem to succeed when you insulate that youth with quality veterans. You see Calgary breakthrough and Florida is on the come...and then there's the Oilers. If you don't have the right players around your youth, you're just adding pressure to those kids. We'll see what happens with Buffalo...they seem to have decent veterans.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
bunch of people fired in Buffalo including nolan

Eichel, no way. Kid smells of Seguin (aka Boston just ripped into the kid)...

There's a theory out there that Babs will go to wherever McDavid is drafted. I'll believe it when I see it.

Or it could lead to the birth of the next great leaf. We need someone to take that burden and persevere with it like Mats did.kyuss wroteCOLONI'll be honest, the Leafs are one of the few teams I hope do not win the lottery.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Considering what the state of the franchise will be in for a few years...I don't think the player will have the pressure thrust upon them until the team is ready to compete. If you're on a bad team but you're performing...there's only so much you can do. Expectations is what could break a player. Allowing the player some time to grow up at this next level...they'll shine when they're ready.
Again, I'll pick on the Oilers...you can't just pile up high picks and expect it all to click right away. Either you put a team around your young player or you deal with the growing pains...you can't have it both ways. Toronto doesn't come off as a patient market but they're going to have to learn if they're going to go full rebuild.
