white isn't very good and coudln't even hold down an NHL job, hagman played like 1 more year after the deal. Stajan is a 3C and the only player left in the deal in the NHL.

Weiss is as good as Stajan, Smith is better than anything else in the deal and Pulk has some really nice offensive upside. A lot of scouts think he has 30G potiential.

Wasn't making any subjective (well ... other than my evals of the players involved) statement about the deal. I know the Pulk is thought of highly in the DET system. Weiss' bloat contact is an issue (injury concerns) IF they could wipe that out, sign me up. I'll admit I have a hard time determining what I think Phaneuf's value is in the NHL. The fucking leafs have just decimated what it should have been; the guy has been put in a position to fail if he wasn't a legit top 15 D man.

Weiss has a terrible contract and Stajan was much more valuable than him at the time. I wouldn't be happy with that return. Phaneuf's NTC where he can list only certain teams he is willing to go to is tying management's hands if they want to move him so it isn't a surprise that they are being asked to take a player no one in the league would want.

What? Last I heard was the offer was Brendan Smith straight up for Dion Phaneuf, and Holland backed out because Nonis wouldn't retain salary.

if Pulks & Smith were in the deal Nonis is crazy to have passed up. Even with keeping 1-2M.

Subban and Gallagher for me, i quite like those guys

i dont mind turris in Ottawa, but the rest of the guys i find too much. However i did love the idea of the leafs hiring Paul Mcclean, i guess they interviewed him and wanted him when they fired Randy but he wasn't up to coaching this season after he was fired. They may revisit him in the summer according to Bob Mckenzie this morning on TSN
