Players on Contracts
Is there a place I can drop this trash Peter left me. I've been told a couple different things so any right answer would be great and if so where?

Ya u need this as well
Re: Players on Contracts
What does this mean? So we can or cannot release players who are on an active contract during the offseason? Or does the contract need to be over/in process of being renewed?Fraser wroteCOLONhttp://bbkl.ca/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11139
Probably need a new one for this offseason

Re: Players on Contracts
Usually in the offseason we can release players under contract
Re: Players on Contracts
Off season is free drop season. You can drop anyone.

We don't get to choose to re-sign players or notMatthew wroteCOLONWhy? NHL teams can't do that can they?

Re: Players on Contracts
I know. I'm saying if a contract is in its 2nd of 3 years why can it be dropped? It shouldn't be allowed.Fraser wroteCOLONWe don't get to choose to re-sign players or notMatthew wroteCOLONWhy? NHL teams can't do that can they?
I believe if a contract is over, and the player gets re-signed we should have a choice at that point to drop the player. Alas, at the rfa/ufa point.

Re: Players on Contracts
Would be a pretty insignificant complication. Generally players only get dropped when they retire, do not get contract extensions, sign in Europe etc.Matthew wroteCOLONI know. Re: Players on Contracts
It wouldn't matter anyways since we can just waive a player and then once they are in the minors the cap hit doesn't count. The free drop period just allows teams to shed contracts that have no trade value and it's not like a bunch of valuable players are cut.Matthew wroteCOLONI know. Re: Players on Contracts
I know what would happen. But it absolves teams who signed shitty players to contracts from being at the contract limit as punishment. If I'd known this I'd have signed a bunch of ahl prospects at the beginning of last season, hope they work out, and cut them this offseason. It kills guys having to do research into who will actually make it. Bleh. I guess my outlook is just different on contract spots worth. I treat contract spots as an asset within themselves. I think if you sign a guy you should be stuck with the contract until that specific contract is done, unless you trade him. Oh well, not a big deal.Bruyns wroteCOLONIt wouldn't matter anyways since we can just waive a player and then once they are in the minors the cap hit doesn't count. Re: Players on Contracts
Available AHL prospects? News to me.
Re: Players on Contracts
It's how I got hrabarenka. It's how Steve got miller. There are lots of guys at the start of the season. I had miller on my radar a month or so before Steve signed him. I definitely would have signed him if I'd known this rule, cuz there would be no punishment if I were wrong about him.Fraser wroteCOLONAvailable AHL prospects? News to me.

Re: Players on Contracts
Well yea it's how I got Kenins as well. But after that first few days there really isn't much to choose from
Re: Players on Contracts
I disagree with this. Both guys I pointed out were signed between late October and December. There are also rookie college guys Entering the ahl who begin taking off after some time.Fraser wroteCOLONWell yea it's how I got Kenins as well. I disagree with this rule. But it isn't a huge issue, and it seems everyone else likes the hail Mary-no punishment method as opposed to research based-punishment method, so I'll leave it alone. 29 beats 1.

Re: Players on Contracts
I think you have to further familiarise yourself with the September waiver draft. Something you havent gone through yet. I can't completely remember all the restrictions, but Im fairly certain college guys are not eligible as free agents
Re: Players on Contracts
I meant college guys who had entered the ahl and not been taken in the waiver draft. Plenty of unnoticed guys do well in the ahl IMO.Fraser wroteCOLONI think you have to further familiarise yourself with the September waiver draft. Something you havent gone through yet.
