Re: Compensation
I dunno man, I agree with Lee here. He had OTT pick, OTT could have easily made moves to get to the GP level, he chose not to cause he preferred his players the following season - which is fine - but you gotta pay the piper for that decision. Lee should have McDavid. He doesn't - who cares that he "still gets eichel". He should be due a 1st.
Re: Compensation
That is an oversimplification in my opinion. Given a set post lottery adjustment there is no way the OTT pick could have turned into McDavid, if the adjustment was made pre-lottery it wouldn't have won either.Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLONI dunno man, I agree with Lee here. Should billy really be punished additionally by the fact that the 11.5% chance of the pick winning the lottery took place? Does blind luck warrant further punishment? I don't think so.
Re: Compensation
Billy should be punished to the fullest extent.
As of right now, I'm being punished for Billy missing GP.

But the opposite can be said here. Lee is being punished for Billy's error.Fraser wroteCOLONThat is an oversimplification in my opinion. Re: Compensation
But then the question also arises, as I previously mentioned, did the CC make a mistake by deciding to do the adjustment post-lottery given the new adjustment formula implementation? So then are we saying that Billy should be further punished for someone else's mistake? A mistake which you have ultimately already benefitted from greatly.Lee wroteCOLONBilly should be punished to the fullest extent.

But that is all under the assumption that what was done was a mistake. Which in my opinion. If we are sticking to the implemented adjustment formula criteria. It definitely was.
Re: Compensation
Place the punishment but a first is steep....
Especially now thought I'm going to be blackmailed with a tight time frame
Imo a 2nd+3rd is fair punishment and have even offered Lee my 1st Round waiver (3rd overall) in which he shot down instantly because of his incessant greed

Re: Compensation
Billy, I am pushing this to give you time to get the pick, if that is what is decided.
You could have made GP, and we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Neither the 1st nor the 2nd + 3rd or even adding the 3rd overall waiver pick come close to the value between McDavid and Eichel.

Re: Compensation
God we need a new CBA. Once a CC is set and we can start getting things stamped, Ill start pushing that CBA thread hard again to get that thing done. Because having to go through conversations and decision making like this shouldn't be happening.

The CC has made a lot of mistakes during this process and it's not like this was a time sensitive matter. I posted as soon as the season ended that we needed a decision and they waited until the very last minute before the lottery draft.

Completely agree.
Another thing is that this is setting precedence moving forward, not just in the matter of McDavid.
Re: Compensation
Was more of a self-imposed time sensitivity to the matter I was referring to. I don't think word was given on the matter until hours before the lottery took place if I remember correctly, and i think only a couple CC members chimed in on the matter.Lee wroteCOLONFraser wroteCOLONBut then the question also arises, as I previously mentioned, did the CC make a mistake by deciding to do the adjustment post-lottery given the new adjustment formula implementation? Re: Compensation
Which is another big issue to me. If only a couple people of the few chosen to make rules can be bothered to chime in, why are they put in a position of power?
Re: Compensation
We need rules regarding missed gp because of injuries. IMO its bullshit you have to trade away quality assets just to meet gp so you don't get penalized.
Re: Compensation
Just waiting for my replacement, your grace. Jesus...
Re: Compensation
Agreed I had more than a full roster all season long and now I am being penalized because of injuriesKapG wroteCOLONWe need rules regarding missed gp because of injuries. IMO its bullshit you have to trade away quality assets just to meet gp so you don't get penalized.
Re: Compensation
Don't know if I totally agree with that. In my opinion unclarity and poor decision making has led us to the situation we are currently in on this matter. If this decision is in fact a precedent setter we would have to overlook a lot of that, to make a decision based on what we want the rules to be going forward keeping all aspects of the process in mind. Which I don't think would benefit you here. Hell if it really was a precedent setter, in my opinion, we should be making Edmonton the lottery winner, and you drafting 4th overall with Billy paying a 2nd and a 3rd your way. But I agree, that would be ridiculous course of action at this point.Lee wroteCOLONFraser wroteCOLONGod we need a new CBA. Everyone has to deal with injuries. Not everyone missed GP because of them.
I was on track to miss GP and I corrected my lineup.

How did you come to this conclusion?
This ruling was based on precedence set in previous years with the pick moving back post lottery. It's one that neither of us agree with, but it's where we stand.
The new ruling is the compensation owed. The current debate is when it is owed, based on the picks standing.

Billy would have had to trade off eessentially all of his future just to make gp so as to not get penalized. That's pretty fair (not)!
