He's worth about 800k. He's a product of his line mates
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
yeah I wouldn't go much above 1M one-way.
He will get at least 4M I guess

Beleskey is an elite 4th liner. If he gets brought in to be a top 6 guy the team will be very disappointed.

He should be a bottom 6 forward and for the sake of the free agent market, he's paid like it. Could he get a Bickell contract?

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Beleskey apparently turned down 4x4 from the Ducks and is looking for 5. Terrible possession numbers and a very inflated s% this year, someone will regret signing him, but if the cap keeps going up and he signs with a team that isn't at the cap then the team will be able to afford his bad contract.

I'm not in support of collusion but I hope the teams with money to spend aren't crazy and give him $5+ million. $16 million for 4 years seemed more than reasonable.

Can't blame the players though, unless they want to take the hometown discount - they pay upwards of 50% income tax + another 15% in escrow [**state/province dependent**]... need to take as much as you can whenever you can get it for the mid-level players. I think we'd all be doing the same 100%.The BBKL Insider wroteCOLONhe's not even worth 4mil per. Yep, if a GM is dumb enough to overpay then good on Beleskey for cashing in. I agree he isn't worth it and it's pretty greedy, but I don't have any problems with players being greedy unless it's a Leaf haha.

I tend to agree with this too, never know when an injury hits either and suddenly you're an uneducated 30 year old with no job experience etc etc with fairly limited options if you haven't been smart with your money either. The player's association is also largely behind the contract talks too, not good for the union for guys to take small increases in pay, gotta shoot for the moon.Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLONCan't blame the players though, unless they want to take the hometown discount - they pay upwards of 50% income tax + another 15% in escrow [**state/province dependent**]... need to take as much as you can whenever you can get it for the mid-level players. Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
some guys can build successful careers playing on good teams with better players. Once that player hits UFA and signs elsewhere their true colours come out. We've seen it happen all too often in Toronto.
Jason Blake
David Clarkson
to name a few.

exactly. no guarantee of income after each contract is up. they have to look out for the future of their families. i blame the idiot GMs who give into the contract demands and agree to them.Sensfanjosh wroteCOLONI tend to agree with this too, never know when an injury hits either and suddenly you're an uneducated 30 year old with no job experience etc etc with fairly limited options if you haven't been smart with your money either.
