Better than generalfanager?

Looks like another repackaging of CapGeek. The true test of these sites will be how well they get the info on new deals.

A classy move by the Wings...they're naming the Traverse City prospect tourney trophy after Wuest.

There is absolutely no rush on this. I want to see how these sites handle July 1st signings and others over the summer. Feel free to use any of these sources to update your spreadsheets for the time being, but once we finalize a source, be prepared to cross reference every salary as I am sure there will be errors somewhere along the way.

These websites logos make me sick. If you're going to put the effort of updating a website with the insane information that comes with managing each players contracts, at least get a respectable logo. Yikes.

Interesting article about cap.

"Gary Bettman announced on Friday that the salary cap is expected to rise to roughly $71 million, and the Los Angeles Kings have plans and formulas in place should next year’s salary cap end up at $69M, $70M or $71M, amongst other landing spots."

It is a part of virtually every decision that every general manager makes in the post-lockout NHL world. It was a factor in the Johnny Boychuk trade before the 2014-15 season. It was a factor in structuring the contract that Jarome Iginla signed in Boston. It was a factor in the firing of Peter Chiarelli as Boston’s GM at the end of this season.

The salary cap is paramount. And so is understanding it.

As Bruins president Cam Neely sat at a podium last week explaining the hiring of Don Sweeney as the new Boston GM, he referenced conversations he had had with candidates for the job in the hiring process.

“They don’t really have a good understanding, maybe the complete player payroll, contracts,” he said. “I think that has a lot to do with CapGeek not being around anymore.”

CapGeek.com was the revolutionary and independently run website that compiled and organized player contracts, a site that was shuttered in January because of creator Matthew Wuest’s battle with colon cancer, to which he succumbed in March at 35 years old.

the thing that I like about hockeyscap is that it shows (in green) which contracts are two-ways, while fanager and others don't, something that really bothers me.

for example, you look at St.Luois roster:
http://www.generalfanager.com/teams/st-louis-blues here you need to click on Jaskin's contract to see it's a two-way, and still, I don't see it stated anywhere, it's just it becomes obvious since a AHL salary is specified.

here instead it's immediately obvious:
https://www.hockeyscap.com/teams/blues

it also becomes a more relevant difference when it comes to new contracts, where AHL salary may not be specified only because it is not known yet, and not because it is not a two-way... (highlighted in yellow on fanager only means unconfirmed contract/details, does not mean two-way contract)
