Just noticed bud Holloway signed in Montreal. 2-way deal but I suspect we see him in the NHL sooner rather than later.
Glad I held onto him...should have a bit of depth this year.

Viktor Fasth to KHL
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Why not have 2 full rounds for the waiver. Draft? Teams that don't want their pick can just drop it. 1 and half rounds seems hokey to me. Amateurish.

Agreed ^^
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
It was discussed and the vote was split on those two options. Going from 30 picks to 44 should eliminate a lot of the free for all we saw last year and is a reward for non-playoff teams. If we still see a large number of players being claimed at once after the 44 picks we will look at expanding to 60 next season.Matthew wroteCOLONWhy not have 2 full rounds for the waiver. Draft? Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I may be a bad team, but I am not your charity case. Giving teams that aren't in the playoffs a "reward" or bonus pick is stupid. The bonus is getting to pick before the playoff teams. Does the NHL give bonus picks to bad teams in any form ever?
I don't get why it doesnt go to 60. It eliminates the free for all just like with 44, but if there are no players worth giving a contract spot up for the gm can just pass.
Please explain the reasoning the CC members who voted for 1 and a half rounds had for not going to 2 full rounds. What benefits are there?

I was for 2 rounds, but I don't think the decision needs to be explained anymore than I did above. No one is saying the non-playoff teams are a charity case so just be content that you get another pick in the waiver draft rather than having all the players snatched up the minute they are available.
There was also support for no change, so at least there are extra picks being added to combat a perceived issue with free agent claims after the draft.

- gives more of an advantage to non playoff teams (the problem you have with this supposed charity thing is only your problem. We are coming off a system in first yrs where only some new owners were awarded extra picks and even in the early stages of the draft, so this certainly is not something that should concern us. What for you is a problem was actually a bonus for us, as there is a big difference in this league from bottom teams to top teams and people are used to complain about it. Promise: if you build a successful team no one is going to tell it was because you had a 2nd rounder in the waiver draft unlike some other teams, lol)Matthew wroteCOLON Please explain the reasoning the CC members who voted for 1 and a half rounds had for not going to 2 full rounds. - helps limiting the waiver draft duration, which is good considering how close it is to the start of the season
- works as some kind of a compromise with those inside CC/admins who didn't want any 2nd round to begin with
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Hey Matthew if you don't want that 2nd rd waiver pick, I will gladly take it off your hands, got a shiny 7th rd pick with your name on it

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
The main idea was to get rid of the mad dash for free agents after the waiver draft ended. This way teams lower in the standings get priority. Not saying there won't be free agent claims after 44 picks this will keep it orderly so to speak.

#Blackhawks acquire defenseman Trevor Daley, forward Ryan Garbutt from DAL for Patrick Sharp, Stephen Johns. Release: http://onego.al/PsQwg
Like it both ways, but particularly for DAL. CHI gets some cap though - keep seabrook? Wonder if that spells the end of oduya there.

Dallas kills that
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Terrible for Chicago. Probably the only team willing to trade for Sharp.
