NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Not a fan of this deal. I wanted oduya to stay in chicago (my guy) and daley(my other guy) to stay in dallas where he was their #1 all situations d-man. Maybe he will do well in chicago, as its difficult to complain about a guy becoming a top 4 in chicago. Hmm, I wonder where oduya goes now? I hope he gets paid. I'd like a nice cap hit bump.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
On second thought, knowing that Oduya wants to sign with chicago, chicago may have just traded Sharp and Johns for Daley and garbutt, with the intention of then re-trading Daley. That way they get to keep Oduya, and acquire the assets they get for daley, while cutting cap. probably not, but whatever?

LOL, so much for the initial reports of CHI's requests...Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLON#Blackhawks acquire defenseman Trevor Daley, forward Ryan Garbutt from DAL for Patrick Sharp, Stephen Johns. Release: http://onego.al/PsQwg
Like it both ways, but particularly for DAL. CHI gets some cap though - keep seabrook? Wonder if that spells the end of oduya there.
DAL retains half of Garbutt salary, so he is there to stay. Daley however, I could see him moved again. As of now the deal saved only 1.7M...
anyway, that horrendous Bickell deal is killing them.

It's harder and harder to keep a quality core together in the cap era if you're successful. They're lucky Keith is way under-valued or they'd be in bigger trouble.

from Fantrax:
Nylander, who is at the Leafs' development camp in Collingwood, Ontario this week, will be groomed as a center with the AHL Toronto Marlies this coming season, according to a report on Toronto's Sportsnet 590 The FAN.
Analysis: Assistant general manager Kyle Dubas was quick to tell the station that Nylander had played pivot for MODO overseas and held his own against cagey vets, so there's no issue on his size or commitment to his own zone. He remains a work in progress, though -- his offensive instincts are at the top of the chart, but his two-way awareness needs refining. That said, a full season (or two) under the tutelage of new coach Sheldon Keefe, with input from Mike Babcock, could mould this creative young player into a effective, difference-making pro. Just don't expect him to be with the big club soon -- Babcock's presence could well turn the Buds' system into a slow and steady one, just like the Wings'.

Other nice thing about this move is that it appropriately fills bottom 6 roles with NHL quality --> preventing some of the kids having to come up and play out of position/role. Only way up is if they outplay the top 6 and force themselves into the roles they should be playing.
