ANA/FLA
Re: ANA/FLA
Now I just need Mike Smith to complete the Arizona System...
I find starters are a lot easier to move when one also owns the backup.
It seems like anything under 6 firsts for a backup right now is a good price, and he did quite well once traded to Buffalo last season. I believe he posted a .924 sv% through 16 games, so ya, i'll take it.

Re: ANA/FLA
not sure I understand this, considering Matthews doesn't have Smith anymore, nor his 1st 2016
Re: ANA/FLA
Matthew has the rest of the Arizona system. If anything happens to Smith(injury) or if the season starts and Smith has suddenly passed that age line (like backstrom in minnesota), i then basically have the system again.
Also, if Lindback lights it up, i'm sure i can get more than a 2nd for him. a 2nd seems like the absolute bottom price for a backup these days.

Re: ANA/FLA
If you think you can get more than a 2nd for a journeyman backup with modest stats on a 1 year deal with arguably the worst team in the league....more power to ya. A 2nd round pick was the market price for such a goalie up until recently.
Re: ANA/FLA
Even if I cant, it still puts together the majority of the arizona system. If Smith ever moves, it puts me into a solid position. and lindback is pretty young still. He was the next big thing when he was traded from nashville a few years ago. So, he could still break out. He did well in buffalo last season.
so yeah, the risk is to either break even, or make profit.

Yeah, I was considering buying low and selling later, but Lindback really is meh.

Re: ANA/FLA
If he had a multi-year deal with Arizona...that's a no-brainer to pursue.
I spent the last few years chasing my tail with the Oilers goalies. It was a waste of resources for categories, I will lose most weeks and with a team that didn't have stability at the position.
At least with Smith he's got term remaining on his deal and no true heir to the net in Arizona. Hence, no desire to acquire their system right now.

Yea that system is shallow as hell. Their 'top' prospect they just let go, Mark Visentin, wasn't that good.

Top prospect is Louis Domingue.thom54 wroteCOLONShoalzie wroteCOLONIf he had a multi-year deal with Arizona...that's a no-brainer to pursue.

yea. and that says a shit load now haha
Re: ANA/FLA
I like the system: Domingue, Langhamer, Burke.
Domingue did pretty good in his first NHL call up last season (,912 sv% on a bad team).
Unfortunate about Visentin, but he was extremely injury prone, and i think his last ankle injury that kept him out all of last season, and part of the season before probably has ended his legitimate shot of being an NHL goalie. I'm hoping the AHL chicago farm team that signed him can turn him around this season if his ankle allows him to play.
