thats not bad for an elite 3rd line centre capable of chipping in upwards of 20 goals
sutter owner should be happy about this because you know vancouvers gonna use him in a very very BBKL format-friendly manner

We have more money tied up in our bottom 6 than some teams have in their top 6. 0.o

So Sutter is suddenly going to take some huge leap forward? My guess is not much changes for him.

Ya don't see any logic in trading Bonino at 1.9M and then turning around and paying Sutter 4.4.

Cap isn't a huge concern in Vancouver. Especially over the next few years as more and more ELC's are projected to get in the mix. The term is the good thing here for the Canucks, takes Sutter right til 32. Seems good to me.

I think spending cap for no reason is ridiculous. Why not keep bonino and trade for a player or sign someone or just keep the open cap space for the deadline and acquire someone while getting the other team to retain half the cap etc. 5 years of paying a player 2m more than he is worth.

Don't forget the fact that Bonino is a better player. Not that he is anything special. but Sutter is barely an NHL player. Some guys will point to the fact Sutter had shitty linemates...well his production has been exactly the same when he has better ones as well. He is a horrible possession player.

Bonino is more of a low end 2C - more offends, not a great shutdown guy cause of speed and not a great face off man. Whereas sutter is an elite 3C. He is very valuable to a team that is going up against the strong top lines of western conference teams. Plus he should have better wingers than he did in Pitt. Wouldn't be surprised to see him putting up similar bonino offensive numbers in Van all the while making them a better team overall. It also allows horvat to be your offensive 2C. The trade and signing make sense for Van. Just think they gave up too much for him and probably could have paid him a little less but not much less when you look at comparable contracts of bolland (and others I can't think of).

Sutter is comparable to bozak IMO

seems like a fair price for both sides. I still consider it expensive if Horvat is the 2C next year and Sutter is 3C.

Sutter is actually a pretty overrated player. Pens fans found him awful. At absolute best he might be as good as Bonino (I personally think Bonino is a bit better), which makes the trade and contract stupid.

Fehr is better than Sutter for Christ's sake lol! Sutter is pretty good as a defensive specialist, but he belongs as a 4th line pker in my book.

yup. not elite shutdown. Good at FO (overrated ability overall I think), and he hits and such.. and has Sutter as a name + the former 11th overall 'pedigree' behind him.

VAN is going down the Nonis route it seems. FRANCHISE D MAN LUCA SBISA!

The cap hit is the highest ever for a player without 41+ points in a season. I don't understand the elite 3C moniker either.
