Great cheap signing for elliott (?one way I assume) and solid deal for the leafs. Grabner is definitely gonna put up some solid numbers Chuck (aside from +/- )Chuck Norris wroteCOLONBernier with Islanders - 750k

I think the isle killed that deal.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Iles improved depth - leafs have a bunch of prospects ahead of those sent... maybe you get a 6th/7th dman or a 4th line forward out of it.
I think iles did well getting that back... but Grabner is easily the best piece and the contract space is not insignificant.

wth, nick still believes in Finn? that guy is garbage
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
posted this a few days ago after the prospect tournament. he's just not good.anton wroteCOLON i have serious doubts finn is ever an NHLer.
and considering he's probably the most "attractive" piece going to the isles, the leafs did just fine.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Another nice deal for Toronto. Not sure if any of those prospects become regulars. Grabner is a regular. I bet they resign him to a decent 3-4 yr deal, and he becomes a decent 3rd liner who can move up or down if needed. or they may trade him, later for 1 single prospect who does have a good chance of playing in the NHL.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I guess leafs MGMT agrees that Finn is a waste of space, but is Carter as well? and tom? and Gibson?
I see zero upside for the leafs... long term best case is Grabner scores a bunch and we flip him for a 2nd rounder?

isn't a hockey deal one that is more player for player rather than one side dumping cap and the other dumping contracts?bills09 wroteCOLONPure hockey deal
Cap space for contract space
Competition is gonna be tough for a bad team
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
So Isles dumped Grabner's salary to replace him with the must cheaper Bernier, nice.Chuck Norris wroteCOLONBernier with Islanders - 750k
Elliott is 2-way btw
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
i mean it's pretty obvious what the upside is...the upside is you now have room to sign your PTO's glencross, setoguchi, boyes, fraser and flip them for picks.Nick wroteCOLONI guess leafs MGMT agrees that Finn is a waste of space, but is Carter as well? and tom? and Gibson?

the potential value we get for those guys - actual NHL players - at the deadline far outweighs mediocre prospects.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
anton is like the only guy who gets it
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Then whys he out of a job in bbkl???!
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Anton will prob go due his rounds in adhl or pbhl and prove he's still got it and hasn't become too out of date for the modern bbkl, and if he does well, will likely get a call from one of the bbkl franchises looking for that experienced hand in a year or two.
