Byfuglien OR Ladd - BBKL Discussion
Who would you keep if you're the Jets. The Buff of Ladd?
If i'm Kevin Cheveldayoff i'd be focused on trading Ladd and resigning Buff. The buff is unlike any player i've seen before. He's massive, almost impossible to knock off the puck, insane shot, runs over people with easy and can completely dominate a game because of his skill, size and speed.
Ladd seems to be on a slow decline this year. His trade value should be still high enough for Cheveldayoff to get a decent return, but a long term investment of 7mil(ish) or more, over 7 or 8 years seems like an unwise contract to hand out.
Any thoughts on this situation as it plays out in WPG?

If they are smart yes, they should ship off the captain. Ladd isn't gonna hit/fight like he used to. That's the difference between RATE of physical decline in white vs black men. Buff will hit like a truck til he's like 37. Ladd's done hitting

Florida would need to add a lot id think.
Re: Byfuglien OR Ladd - BBKL Discussion
yea I'd say keep Buff , shorter contract for bigger $ if possilbe.
BUT, I think they'll end up doing the opposite and keeping Ladd, signing him to a Kesler-ish deal. Or whatever

Re: Byfuglien OR Ladd - BBKL Discussion
i've watched a decent amount of WPG games and Ladd is almost completely unnoticable. I would move him in a heart beat. I guess he's popular in the dressing room, but if his game on the ice isn't where it should be it seems logical he should be the one to go.thom54 wroteCOLONyea I'd say keep Buff , shorter contract for bigger $ if possilbe.

WPG should be doing everything possible to keep Buff.. Mind blowing that they would let him go, without at least offering a contract somewhere around 7mil I would think.
Re: Byfuglien OR Ladd - BBKL Discussion
5years, 7 million. .. but if I'm Buff ... I know I can get way more term elsewhere. Buff --> Florida, Campbell resigns at 6 million for 2 years (a markov-esque deal) ... Then they have a sick D core moving forwards: Ekblad, Campbell, Buff, Petrovic, the other russian guy,
Re: Byfuglien OR Ladd - BBKL Discussion
first off, petrovic is Canadian born so u don't have to say "the other" Russian guy who u refer to as Dmitry Kulikov
second, Kulikov is way ahead of PEtro in depth chart so don't mention ur own guy like hes a part of some important part of the FLA d -core lol

Re: Byfuglien OR Ladd - BBKL Discussion
didn't mean it that Petro is ahead of Kulikov man! If it was a depth chart ... don't think i'd have Buff as #3 ....

Buff will get 8mil on an open market, i'm sure he's aware of this.
but ya, Winnipeg need to offer up 7mil x 5 years. If he signs for that it's a bargain for the Peg

I think it'd be cool to see buflyian and Brent burns on the same pairing.

it would be a disaster, for absolutely everyone involved. System? Decision making? Position?
but ya, I agree Matthew, it would be cool.

Sure if you absolutely hate defense.Matthew wroteCOLONI think it'd be cool to see buflyian and Brent burns on the same pairing.
And I would trade both of them if I could. Gun to my head? Keep Ladd and ship out Buf. Once Buf gets paid he's done.

According to TSN Insiders
"WPG offered Ladd 6 years x 6mil"
