i enjoyed reading that but it's not going to change my mind about him in the ASG being a joke. He should've just respectfully stepped down when he had the chance.
I didn't like when he claimed he didn't realize he was in the pros to fight...really John? After 4 years at Michigan Tech where you tallied a whopping 19 points and 300+ PIMS, you thought you were offered a contract with Houston out of the blue because of your ability to play hockey? C'mon...
it's a cool story in itself, it doesn't need to be sensationalized.
The All-Star Game was fun...when I was a kid. You don't need All-Star weekend to be able to see all the star players. The schedule is back to where you can every team play your hometown team and there's so many games on TV that you're going to see all the star players play at some point. If kids still like the All-Star game...they don't need to do anything to legitimize it. Just let it be what it is...a weekend of grab ass on ice and it gives the rest of the league a break in the season.

The skills on Saturday are usually pretty good but the 3-on-3 tourney was fun. That final game had plenty of intrigue and both sides played hard...short of throwing checks. I hope the format can succeed without a John Scott-like story around next year.
Honestly I think the NHL should look at the what a John Scott had done for the intrigue of this event. A token journeyman joining the stars every year may not be the worst idea in the world.
