Re: Detroit Trading Block: Deadline 2016
We've got a couple weeks until the deadline so I'll dip my toe in the water on this just to see what's out there. Subban has been on fire lately and I'd at least like to see if I can get the return now that I'd ask for this spring. I won't make this a secret, I'll shop him in the offseason if I don't find a deal before the deadline.
I get that his salary is very high but he's playing so well right now. Top 4 in defense scoring and he's dominant in special teams...tied for most special team points on defense and he's spending a lot of time on the kill. Only knock is that goals are down this year.
My asking price:
+ 2016 lottery pick (nothing outside the top 10)
+ Top forward prospect or quality young NHLer (preferably a center)
+ Downgraded NHL defenseman...plays top 4 minutes with solid all-around numbers
I will decline all offers that don't include all 3 elements.

Re: Detroit Trading Block: Deadline 2016
I'll also dangle Brandon Davidson out there for those looking for cheap defense depth. He's averaging 23 minutes a night since he came back from injury. He's played 12+ minutes on the PK in those 3 games. 61 hits and 64 blocks in 37 games this season and he's a +2 for averaging 18 minutes a night on a mediocre Oilers team. Draisatl leads the Oilers with +3.
Only making $585K and he's waiver exempt and he'll be waiver exempt again next year...really nice depth piece for you contenders out there.

Re: Detroit Trading Block: Deadline 2016
I'll keep P.K. on the block until the deadline. This is still what I'm asking for.
If anyone has the cap for it...I'd be into a monster deal involving Ryan Miller and Subban. I'd want to get an upgrade on Miller and then the return on Subban will vary based on the goalie I'd get. $15,000,000 as a combined cap hit.

Re: Detroit Trading Block: Deadline 2016
I kind of figured there wouldn't be a lot of interest right now. I'll shop some guys around the draft. (Subban, Vanek...Bennett?) I'm going to be too busy with work today to negotiate any deals so I'm going to stand pat through our deadline. Good luck to everyone in the final week of the regular season.

Re: Detroit Trading Block: Deadline 2016
I'll throw one name on the block...
Dainius Zubrus can be had for a 2017 5th Rounder.
Nothing fancy...40 hits and 30:00 SHTOI in 31 games. His cap hit is only $600,000.
But other than that, I'm not making deals.
