Re: Trade: DET-TOR
Imo this is scotts best deal as his tenure as a GM
Re: Trade: DET-TOR
Unreal trade Scott. Mike can afford to pay prices like this, and he should in situations like this one, but you absolutely murder this deal IMO.
Re: Trade: DET-TOR
Don't lie to this poor man haha.
Re: Trade: DET-TOR
Not a piece there that isn't easily replaceable.
Re: Trade: DET-TOR
But then again, maybe I'm just pissed that we see more elite pieces siphoned away from basement teams.

It's good to be Mike, Steve, and Mik.Lee wroteCOLONBut then again, maybe I'm just pissed that we see more elite pieces siphoned away from basement teams.
Re: Trade: DET-TOR
For fuck's sake... This league is officially done.
Re: Trade: DET-TOR
It's gotten to a point where 3 teams have a monopoly on players.

Re: Trade: DET-TOR
Don't love it. No stud coming back. Similar to mcdavid deal. i get why it's done, but it's a product of where the league is at and not the type of deal the player should be worth.
Re: Trade: DET-TOR
You're an asshole Scott.
That is all.

Lol can't blame Scott. Blame whichever GM's before got fleeced by Mike/mik/Steve to create all their assets.

Re: Trade: DET-TOR
Bad deal. I don't get why a first overall can't land 2 first line nhlers + a 1st rounder.
Re: Trade: DET-TOR
I see the teams that are stacked slowly draining their plethora of assets to the lower seeded teams at this point. (Check out how much less top prospects Mik and Mike habe today in comparison with when I started 18 months ago: it is a lot less ) so, I I believe it is a good thing. I also believe Scott should try and drop johnson for 4 top prospect assets, but that may just be because I own his 2017 1st
As for this deal, I think Scott could have gotten a bit more. Like a top 8 1st rounder to go with this package, rather than a 27th overall 1st rounder. But boeser is gonna be an absolute beast. And hill gives him a good goalie prospect. A strong centre and up and coming winger in Pearson are nice assets to own too.
Ps - Mike, given I have 2 top 3 1sts next year, if u think u can buy the 1st overall pick off of me without giving up Jamie Benn, you are mistaken.

Re: Trade: DET-TOR
This is a good deal for both teams.
Re: Trade: DET-TOR
Mike has #15 & 16 in the upcoming draft... deal would look better if it was 16 rather than 27... but anyway, if you accept he isn't moving one of those 2 you go after quantity instead, there is no way imo Mike would have passed on this deal if he only had to add some pick/s (he has 5 picks in 3rd round of this draft alone...)
With Matthews looking great at the Worlds, I don't get the reasons for Scott to complete the deal the day after Matthews clearly outplayed Laine.. without some add, that is.
This being said, moving the 1st overall sooner or later was a pretty obvious decision in DET situation, and it's not like this deal per se is a setback in the process of putting together a decent team down the road.

Re: Trade: DET-TOR
This is a lot better return than cliff got for #2, and according to scouts there is little difference between Laine and Matthews. It's not like Matthews is the next crosby or mcdavid. TSN that's hockey said his game is comparable to Barkov and i can guarantee you id trade the above package for barkov.
Re: Trade: DET-TOR
first of all, Matthews is a much better goal scorer than Barkov has ever been so far.
second, you just said you'd much rather have Barkov than the above package
