apparently it was the 4th year that Melnyk didn't want to do

interesting to see what Le Chiffre does with that lineup ...

Andreas Johnson knocked out cold in his 2nd AHL game since coming over from Europe. Brutal Hit:

I expect a pretty good suspension. That was pure elbow.

That was goddam ugly, but nice to see Hyman dropping the gloves in response.

AHL, just the ideal place to develop Euro prospects for the NHL eh

(like.. get them used to get concussed in advance)

Albany is a dirty team. I suggest we play that Johnson kid to muck it up next game

As important as guys like Nylander, Matthews, Rielly, & Marner are for the leafs moving forward, being a truly top contending team means you draft and develop pieces from beyond the top 60 into impact NHLers. IMO Timashow, A.Johnson, Valiev, & C.Brown are looking like they have a good chance of being good NHLers, the first two with a real chance of being secondary scorers, signing the odd UFA/KHL/college guy like Bozak, Hyman and hopefully Zatziev will quickly add up as well.

IMO there is often a loyalty/heart/fit that comes from playing with your original team compared to "just a pay-cheque" that happens after a trade or a huge UFA signing.

Yea he pretty clearly targets Johnson's head likely get a suspension that carries into next season. Shit like that just pisses me off. They were obviously getting destroyed and this plug feels the need to "set the tone". So dumb.

Agree with this. Not to mention you've been monitoring that player more closely throughout his career for years and have an exact idea of his ability and where he fits in your organization both on and off the ice. Having said player play for years with a chunk of the roster around him develops a chemistry and understanding between players too. There's a reason why a lot of successful teams in the league draft the majority of their core players and that a lot of UFAs don't pan out.
