I actually agree for the most part.Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLONThat's just about as fair as fair gets. Hits/Blks/SHTOI for scoring and shots. Same age; similar contract. Girardi likely to maintain his production longer than steen IMO. But hey, to each their own.Tony wroteCOLONGirardi for Steen maybe.

Some GMS only look at points... this is why they fail. Ask ex-GM Paul.

I also think points are undervalued sometimes too. But Girardi is very good at what he does. And Steen is a good all-arounder (minus hits/blks). Very similar to Jokinen. I dunno, depends on what you're looking for.
For Matt, it's more about who he thinks carries more value and who he thinks he can flip for more... so if he thinks Girardi has less value, I get why he doesn't move him; whereas Tony is looking for something specific and thus is more likely to pull the trigger to improve his squad in said areas.

Aside from Andy Greene I was built almost strictly on points. Id argue mike and mik aswell.Tony wroteCOLONSome GMS only look at points... this is why they fail. Ask ex-GM Paul.
Two ways of winning tho. When points dry up you have peripherals.
Re: Mr. Islander's 2016 Offseason Block
As someone who built my team from literally nothing, periphs is how you build up as they're cheaper to get. I wasn't here the first season to take advantage of morons.
Re: Mr. Islander's 2016 Offseason Block
Guys gerardi is a bad nhl player. And Steen does retry decent in periphs too. I'm looking more at value than stats, and this doesn't add up. If you want a guy who will get u points on a cheap deal who is younger than garadi, try purcell from billy.

I'm not pressuring you Matthew. Speaking more generally. Each GM as their own needs.
Been there, done that with Purcell.

Purcell for buff tony!!
Re: Mr. Islander's 2016 Offseason Block
Mike was 4th in hits,6th in SHTOI, 7th in PIMs, you were 2nd in blocks, 3rd in SHTOI. Both of you were strong periph teams, but Mik really is a team that relies on offence. The BBKL Insider wroteCOLONAside from Andy Greene I was built almost strictly on points. I wasn't either, and did just the opposite.Tony wroteCOLONAs someone who built my team from literally nothing, periphs is how you build up as they're cheaper to get. I wasn't here the first season to take advantage of morons.
The price for mediocre players who produced relevant BBKL peripheries was way too high, so I focused on getting good hockey players instead, not caring if they were one dimensional.
It's been with the prospects that I kept that in mind a bit more, since it is so difficult here to acquire those kind of players via trades. If I was a NHL GM I'd always go BPA no matter what, but here if it was pretty close that factored in.. guys like Jaskin, J.Larsson, JT Compher, Prokhorkin, Zacha, Kraskovsky..I've tried to get those kind of players through the draft. In the first few seasons my chances to win it all were remote anyway.. only much later on I could afford paying through the nose to go after team needs, like with Haula and Eller.
btw, our teams were awful but were not built 'from literally nothing', Lee's one pretty much was.

Excuse me? You don't know a damn thing about the team I took over. They were literally one point above Lee's Lightning, you arrogant twat.
Re: Mr. Islander's 2016 Offseason Block
we joined at the very same time, your (and my) full roster was bad, but not nearly as bad as Lee's (which was probably Tampa back then)Tony wroteCOLONExcuse me? You don't know a damn thing about the team I took over. They were literally one point above Lee's Lightning, you arrogant twat.

I have some of my initial spreadsheets somewhere. I'll have to dust off my old macbook and find them.

Actually, Tony's team was just as bad as Lee's. Several GMs came in trying to run that team when all it had was JVR. Then Tony came along and made it into what it is today.kyuss wroteCOLONwe joined at the very same time, your (and my) full roster was bad, but not nearly as bad as Lee's (which was probably Tampa back then)Tony wroteCOLONExcuse me? I hope someone has those full rosters when they took over and post them so that everyone will be able to judge.. and I mean all their assets, not just their NHL players.
