Re: Who would you protect
^ That makes sense. I'd imagine we'd do the expansion draft prior to our entry draft. The freeze would end after that draft in time for the entry draft.
Re: Who would you protect
Nah fuck that it will create a more widespread redistribution of talent around the league rather than just allowing a few guys to get excessively burnt. I'd regret losing Leo, though a more youth-centric GM might take Kempe or Yak instead. I think I'd probably trade one of my forwards for a comparable D man and expose Holden.

Re: Who would you protect
Not that I necessarily agree with a no trade rule stretching that far back (but interesting to see Lee the one pioneering it, I can only imagine how boring you'll find the league for that span!) but I think it might have the opposite effect of what you propose. "top teams" will make a few trades to level out their 7:3:1 ratio, even between themselves, effectively limiting the talent ceiling available to the new entrant. Also there's a possibility of collusion between teams (agreements to trade players back after the draft) that would be limited by disallowing trades for a period of time.Fraser wroteCOLONNah fuck that it will create a more widespread redistribution of talent around the league rather than just allowing a few guys to get excessively burnt. You don't think so? I'm pretty pumped about this. We're all in the same boat re: losing a player.

Don't really want the stress of reacquiring my goalies. If we could keep goalie systems id probably be more excitedMike wroteCOLONYou don't think so? I'm pretty pumped about this. We're all in the same boat re: losing a player.
Re: Who would you protect
I don't think you'd lose any goalie Kyle. The ones available now are pretty strong, you'd keep Varly and there's no Gibson/Vas like backup behind him for the Expansion team to desire

A few goalies that are probably exposed:KapG wroteCOLONDon't really want the stress of reacquiring my goalies. If we could keep goalie systems id probably be more excitedMike wroteCOLONYou don't think so? I'm pretty pumped about this. We're all in the same boat re: losing a player.
S. Bobrovski
B. Elliott
F. Anderson
I'd expect a pair of them to be selected over Pickard, no (assuming that's who you have/are worried about)?

Pickard is a very, very legit goalie. Have you looked at his numbers? They are really good behind a really

Re: Who would you protect
It'll be Anderson and Elliot most likely, he/she won't really target Pickard IMO

I guess I have a question for you guys. These players in the expansion draft, their only available to the expansion teams? I don't think I was thinking about this correctly when I initially made that post.

I do believe I was thinking about the entire situation incorrectly.thom54 wroteCOLONIt'll be Anderson and Elliot most likely, he/she won't really target Pickard IMO
If our players aren't claimed by one of the expansion teams we retain them right?
Re: Who would you protect
yea only expansion team. and you lose one player max
Re: Who would you protect
They're not "waived" or anything, only available to the expansion team, and most likely every team would lose just on player.
Re: Who would you protect
Oh ok, that's my bad then . I was completely misunderstanding how this was going to work.
Excuse my original post!

Re: Who would you protect
Matt is hurt most by this in terms of goalies since he only has Gibson and Freddy so he'll be left with a single goalie on his roster since I think it's safe that Freddy would be taken.
Re: Who would you protect
WILD prediction - Matt trades Anderson
